PREMIER LEAGUE 2 - TOP SCORERS LIST - WHO IS THE NEXT BIG STAR?

James McAtee of Manchester City currently leads the scoring charts in Premier League 2. The Salford born forward who has just turned 19 years old has scored ten goals in just seven games to follow up his total of seven in twenty-two PL2 games last season for City's under 23 side. He has been capped by England at u20 and u18 level played 18 minutes for City's first team in their Carabao Cup game against Wycombe Wanderers earlier in the season.

Maybe Newcastle United won't have to splash the cash to get a goal-scorer as Dylan Stephenson, 18, has scored seven in eight PL2 games so far. He played eleven PL2 games last season scoring just once but has really hit the ground running this season.

There are then a host of players on six goals scored as follows -

Tom Dickson-Peters (Norwich City)
Has been at Carrow Road since u15 level and has started scoring regularly this season in the PL2 with six goals in eight games. He netted five in eighteen games last season. Has recently represented Scotland at u17 level.

Alfie Devine (Tottenham Hotspur)
Signed from Wigan Athletic's academy in 2020 and was with Liverpool's academy previously. He scored for Spur's first team in their FA Cup Third Round game at Marine last season.  He was aged 16 years and 163 days at the time making him the youngest ever player to represent the club in a first team game. Capped by England at u16 level.

Dilan Kumar Markanday (Tottenham Hotspur)
Born in Barnet. The 20 year old attacking midfielder has the distinction of scoring in the first ever games played at Spur's new stadium when he scored against Southampton under 18s in a test event.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (Crystal Palace)
A 20 year old predominately left-footed midfielder who has been capped at u20 by England whom he scored for on his debut in September this year. He made his first team debut as a substitute for The Eagles in their Premier League game against his former club Chelsea in August.  He has been at Palace since 2019 and singed a professional deal in Aprl 2021 - There had been talk of him leaving Slehurst Park to move to a German club earlier in the year. His 16 year old brother Sam currently plays in the Chelsea academy system.

Florin Balogun (Arsenal)
Signed as a pro with The Gunners in February 2019 and made his Premier League debut in their opening day defeat at Brentford. He has been with the club since 2008 when he was 8 years old. He was born in New York but his family moved to England when he was young meaning he can qualify for either USA, England or Nigeria at International level. Has been capped at u17, u18, u20 and u21 level as well at the USA for 4 games at u18 level.

Sam Burns (Blackburn Rovers)
Goalscoring midfielder who netted seven goals in twenty-one games for Rovers in the PL2 last season and has followed this up with six goals so far in 21/22. The 19 year old is yet to be given a chance in the Championship for the club.

Joe Glehardt (Leeds United)
A real star in the making at Elland Road. He has been compared to a young Wayne Rooney in his style of play. Capped by England at u20, u18, u17 and u16 level the Liverpool born centre-forward now aged 19 signed a four year deal with Leeds United in August 2020. He joined from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee - He had played 19 games at Championship level in the 18/19 and 19/20 seasons. He made his first team debut for Leeds in their Carabao Cup game at Fulham earlier in the season and also came on a substitute in the Premier League game against Southampton in October.

Robert Street (Crystal Palace)
20 year old who spent a short spell on loan with Vanarama National League side Torquay United last season making 5 appearances for The Gulls. Was an un-used sub for The Eagles in their Premier League 2-2 draw at West Ham United earlier in the season and played in their u21 Papa Johns Trophy 3-0 defeat at Sutton United.

Evan Ferguson (Brigton & HA)
Evan is the youngest player in this list having only just turned 17 on the 19th October. The Seagulls beat Liverpool to his signature in January 2021 when he signed from League of Ireland side Bohemians where he made his competitive debut in an League of Ireland game against Derry City as a 14 year old! He has played for the first team already coming on as a substitute against Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup game at Cardiff City earlier this season. Already has caps for the Republic or Ireland at u15, u17 and u21 level. He is the son for former professional player Barry Ferguson who spent time with Coventry City from 1998 to 2002 having loan spells with Colchester United, Hartlepool United and Northampton Town - He went on to play for Longford Town, Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers and Sporting Fingal. I'm sure in the next year or so he will make his debut as full International with Ireland.

Abu Kamara (Norwich City)
Very highly thought of at Carrow Road. The 18 year old joined The Canaries as an 11 year old and has progressed from the u18 team to the u23 PL2 team last season. He signed his first professional contract with the club in January 2021 and has recently signed another to keep him until 2025.
