ISTHMIAN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION MID-WEEK FIXTURES AND MINI-PREVIEW

PREMIER DIVISION
Corinthian Casuals v Margate
Casuals have two wins from six home league games which came against Cray Wanderers and Hornchurch. They go into this game having been knocked out of the FA Trophy at home to Cheshunt on Saturday. They have three wins from their last six league games but have been beaten three times in the last four. The visitors had a trophy win (2-0) against fellow step three side Beaconsfield Town on Saturday and are in good form winning four of their last six league games. They have five wins from seven games at home with two wins on the road which came at Wingate on the opening day of the season and at Merstham in September. The form says an away win but The Gate have only scored 6 times in 5 away games - Casuals have scored 5 times in 7 home games. This points towards a low scoring game which could end 0-0 or 1-1.......Stand by for a 4-4 thriller now I've said that!

Folkestone Invicta vs Hornchurch
The only side left without defeat in the league who underlined their title credentials by coming back from 2-0 down at Bognor Regis Town to record a fantastic 4-2 victory last Tuesday evening. They followed this up with a 2-1 Trophy win at home to Hendon on Saturday. They have four wins and two draws in their last six games scoring 20 goals in the process. It's fair to say The Urchins have under-performed so far this season with the quality of the squad manager Mark Stimson has at his disposal. The Essex side are without a win in their last four league games and went out of the FA trophy at Wingate & Finchley on Saturday losing on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw - It has to be one of the first times in history that the winners of the previous season's competition have been knocked out in the qualifying rounds.

Nine of the starting XI for The Urchins in the game at Wingate started in the Final against Hereford at Wembley in May with recent signing from Enfield Town Billy Bricknell and Charlie Ruff (who was a substitute) the only changes. It was Bricknell's third start for his new side and he is yet to score yet - For a player of his quality it won't be long before he hits the back of the net again. They have just two wins in six on their travels against Horsham who are struggling towards the bottom of the table and an impressive 1-3 win at Lewes. Could they cause Invicta some problems - I think Mark Stimson will want his team to show a reaction from their defeat at the weekend but not many teams will come away with points from Folkestone this season - Only Enfield Town and Potters Bar Town have so far - A home win but Hornchurch likely to be tough opponents.

Lewes vs Carshalton Athletic
The Rooks are the highest scoring team in the division with an impressive 33 goals scored in 11 games. They were knocked out of the FA Trophy at Bishop's Stortford on Saturday which was their second defeat in a row having lost that amazing 5-4 game at Worthing in their previous game.  Athletic are down in 13th place and are having a up and down season so far with 4 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats so far. They have been difficult to beat recently with just 1 defeat in their last six games which came against Cray Wanderers. They have also only been beaten once in the league on their travels which was a narrow 1-0 defeat at Bognor Regis Town and, including their 2-3 Trophy win at Horsham on Saturday, are unbeaten in four away games. A home win but Carshalton will also score - 2-1.

Wingate & Finchley vs Worthing
The table toppers visit North London with the home side in a confident mood after their FA Trophy win over Hornchurch on Saturday. Worthing also won 0-2 at Step Four side Chertsey Town at the weekend with their only defeats coming at Folkestone Invicta and at home to Bognor Regis Town with a 2-2 draw at Enfield Town - All their other league games have been wins. The Blues, under the new management of club legend Marc Weatherstone this season, are another club having an up and down campaign so far. In their eleven league games they are yet to keep a clean sheet - a record which is likely to continue against the free-scoring visitors - equally though Wingate have only failed to score in just two league games against Margate on the opening day of the season and last time out at home to Potters Bar Town. This one may end 1-3.
