EXCITING NEWS FOR THE ESSEX ALLIANCE LEAGUE

There has been some great news for local football announced in the last week as THE ESSEX ALLIANCE FOOTBALL LEAGUE has been confirmed by the Football Association as part of the National League System.

The league's Senior Division will now sit alongside The Essex Olympian Premier Division at Step Seven of the football pyramid.

The league was formed in 2014 when the Ilford & District League and Essex Business Houses League merged with a common aim to support and promote the grassroots game in Essex and East London.

The League permits member clubs to play on grounds in the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, Newham, Waltham Forest, Harlow and Epping Forest.

In recent times it has bucked the trend of many grass roots leagues who have lost member clubs and seen number diminish which is fantastic to see.

In their first season (2014/15) there were twelve sides in the Premier Division, ten in Division One and eleven in Division Two.

Last season there were thirteen in the Senior Division, eleven in Division One, twelve in Division Two, eleven in Division Three and ten in Division Four which is an increase from thirty-three teams to forty-six.

2021/22 is looking set to the most exciting season yet for the league with teams such as Jolof Sports, FC Baresi, Woodford East and DTFC in the Senior Division.
