DROPWATCH - THE BATTLE TO AVOID RELEGATION FROM THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE

POS TEAM  GD PTS PP FORM
21.   COLCHESTER UNITED  35  -15  38  71 LWLLDD
22.   BARROW AFC  33  -3  35  74  WLLWWW
23.   SOUTHEND UNITED   35  -28  30  63  WDLDLD
24.   GRIMSBY TOWN   34  -28  27  63  LLLDDD

There are still many games with twists and turns yet to come at the bottom of League Two but it's looking bleak for fans of Grimsby Town and Southend United who currently sit in the relegation places with Barrow AFC seemingly hitting form under new management at the right time to currently have a five point gap over the drop zone.

Grimsby Town have won just one game in their last ten and have only scored five goals in those games
Southend United have won two of their last ten league games with four ending 0-0 - they have only let in three goals in their last five league games.

Grimsby Town's next four games are Colchester United (21st) and Tranmere Rovers (4th) at home followed by trips to Mansfield Town and Barrow (22nd). Needless to say all games for them at present are important but those against Colchester United and Barrow could be pivotal to their season.

Southend United travel to Scunthorpe United (18th) on Saturday followed by a mid-week home game against Walsall (19th) and a trip to Harrogate Town (12th).

The Mariners last dropped out of the league from 2010 to 2016 with The Shrimpers being members of the football league since the 1920/21 season when they joined the finished 17th in Division Three (South).

The bookmakers don't seem confident in either team remaining in the league - skybet.com make Grimsby 1/10 and Southend 1/7 to be relegated. Colchester are 7/1 and Barrow 10/1. Please remember to gamble responsibly.
