PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION - THE ROCKS AND THE ROOKS ARE THE CLUBS WITHOUT A WIN SO FAR

It's been a difficult and frustrating start to the 2020/21 season for EAST THURROCK UNITED under the new management of Paul Martin.

The Rocks have exited the Emirates FA Cup at the first possible stage in a 1-0 defeat away at Potters Bar Town along with league defeats against Cheshunt, Cray Wanderers, Carshalton Athletic and Haringey Borough. Their only decent result being a 1-1 draw away at Brightlingsea Regent where Phillip Brown-Bampoe scored a last minute equaliser after the home side had scored in the 84th minute from the penalty spot. Brown-Bampoe played for 'Magic Martin' at Romford last season. A positive is that after failing to score in the opening two games the Essex side have scored once in all of their last four. Former Pheonix Sports player Kenny Alieru has scored twice in those games.

Lewes got their first point of the season last night against Bowers & Pitsea who had won all three of their league games up to that point. Aaron Cosgrave, 21, has been in good scoring form for The Rooks netting four times so far including a penalty in the game at Bowers. He joined the club in February from Welling United.

Hugo Langton's team were also beaten at South-Central Division side Bedfont Sports in the Emirates FA Cup.

They host Margate on Saturday who have drawn three of their five games so far - they lost at home to Cheshunt yesterday. Could it end all square at The Dripping Pan?
