ATHLETIC NEWHAM FOOTBALL CLUB

The club formerly known as Lopes Tavares who were in second place of the Thurlow Nunn First Division South when football was ended last season have announced they will be now known as ATHLETIC NEWHAM FOOTBALL CLUB. The club have announced that 'Through sports we will focus on the wellbeing of the Newham community. We hope to get the support of the community as we aim to continuously develop'

The club was formed in 2015 playing in youth football before moving up to the Essex Alliance Football League. They will be looking for promotion to Step Five this season. 

The newly named club start their league campaign on Saturday with a trip to Halstead Town before a Wednesday evening trip to Brimsdown who will be ground sharing at Tilbury for the 20/21 season. They then make the short trip to play Barkingside on Saturday 12th September before their first home game at the Terence McMillan Stadium on Saturday 19th September when they host Wormley Rovers. 

They shared 'The Terry Mac' with FIRE UNITED CFC last season who have withdrawn from football for the forthcoming campaign. Essex Senior League side Clapton FC will now play at the stadium alongside Athletic Newham.
