THE ONLY WAY IS UP - BIG PLANS FOR NEW CLUB DUNMOW TOWN

The Essex town of Great Dunmow has a population of around 9,000 people and sits in-between Bishops Stortford and Braintree on the A120.

The town has never had a senior football club as such with Dunmow United and Dunmow Rhodes covering youth football for both boys and girls in the area along Rhodes having a Sunday side in the Braintree and North Essex League.

Going back to the 60s, 70s and 80s Dunmow FC played in the Essex Olympian League (then known as the Essex Intermediate League) with their last season being 1990/91 when they finished 12th in Division Three.

From the 2020/21 season newly formed Dunmow Town FC will ground share at Braintree Town's Cressing Road stadium and will be playing in the Essex and Suffolk Border League

Former Grays Althletic, Ware, Hullbridge Sports and Walthamstow centre-back Gus Douglas has been announced as the club's first signing along with the highly experienced Che Stadhart who will be part of the club's managment team. Stadhart counts Harlow Tow, Margate, Harlow Town and Concord Rangers amongst his former clubs. Ross Pope, another former Walthamstow defender, will also be with the club for the 2020/21 season.

If nearby the nearby villages of Takeley (3,300 population) and Stansted Mountfitchet (6,000 population) can support step five Essex Senior League sides there is no reason why Dunmow couldn't have a team at this level - Only time and a huge amount of hard work (there has been much already!) off the pitch will tell.

Just think if 2.5% of the population of Dunmow get out and watch their new club they will be getting crowds of 225 people - The only way could be up for Dunmow Town!
