THE TOP TROPHY IN THE HERTFORD AND DISTRICT LEAGUE
The top prize in Hertford and District Football League is proudly named The Alfred Barclay Bishop Trophy which is awarded to winners of the Premier Division each season.
Mr Bishop was the Chairman of Burnham Green Fooball Club when they became the dominant teams in the league in the late 1940's and early 1950s. They were promoted to the then First Division in 1948 and won the league the next season without dropping a point - they won all twenty-two games played.
They were again league winners in 1950. In 1950-51, they lost their title, on goal difference but regained the title in 1951-52, when they also won the Premier Division Cup and the Welwyn Hospital Cup.
