THE COLD END SPEAKS TO DIPO FADAIIO

The Cold End recently spoke to Dipo Fadaiio who is Chairman/Manager of Royal Southwark who are a team formed in 2019 that play in the Orpington and Bromley Sunday League Fourth Division. Eku Dean has been their top scorer - He netted 28 goals in 17 appearances prior to the suspension of football.

Why were Royal Southwark formed?
We were formed because we believed we could make our own stamp in grassroots football. All the players in the squad are local except our director of football (Ske) who travels from Uxbridge every - that is dedication!

What's Southwark like as an area?
Southwark has loads of history and one of the best boroughs to live in. It's a big area and home to all kinds of people with different backgrounds.

What has been the team's best result of the season?
We faced a team called Lanthorne FC in the Kent FA Sunday Junior Trophy - they were unbeaten all season until they played us. We beat them twice as the first time we played them they appealed that the pitch wasn't the correct size so the Football Association decided that we should travel to Margate for a rematch. We beat them 5-2 the first time and 5-3 the second time.

What has been the worst result of the season?
It would be against Greenwich Mariners when we lost 4-1.

What's the best thing about Sunday football?
I would say it's the bond you build with you friends and we are simply love to turn out and play the game we love. I wish we started this years ago to be honest.

What's the worst thing about Sunday football?
The cancellations and postponements - the Football Association need to invest more money in pitches for all levels of the game and then the talent will hopefully shine though - It's a shame France figured out this before we did.
