SOME FACTS AND STATS ON THE VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE SEASON

BARROW (currently 4th) and TORQUAY UNITED (6th) are top scorers in the division so far on 29 goals scored in 16 league games played.

FC HALIFAX TOWN may be proving the old adage that 'strikers win games but defenders win leagues' as they are currently top of the table with the best defensive record so far. They have conceded just 14 goals so far in their 16 games. Everyone associated with The Shaymen will of course say there are lot of twists and turns to come yet.

EBBSFLEET UNITED (24th) and AFC FYLDE (21st) have conceded the most goals on 32 goals in 16 league games. The Coasters only let in 41 league goals in total last season on their way to the play-off final which they lost to Salford City and were 13/2 favourites for the title with some bookmakers in July so it's been a disappointing start so far in 2019/20 for them.

BARROW have won their last seven league games in a row - a run which has pushed them up to fourth in the table. The Bluebirds finished in 7th place in the 2016/17 season which is their highest placing in the pyramid since relegation from the football league in 1972 - Could this be the year the Cumbrian side return? DOVER ATHLETIC (11th) make the long trip up North tomorrow - they have won two games in their last eight.

WOKING, promoted from the Vanarama South last season, started the season with seven wins in their first eight league games but have since gone on a run on no wins in eight games drawing five and losing three.

WREXHAM (20th), EBBSFLEET UNITED (24th) and HARTLEPOOL UNITED (16th) have all had management changes this season. Wrexham's Bryan Hughes left the club at the end of September with former boss Dean Keates returning to the club he left in 2018 - He was in charge of football league side Walsall from March 2018 to April 2019. Craig Hignett and Garry Hill have both left their posts this week. Hignett had only been in charge of Hartlepool since 23rd January 2019 in his second spell with the club. Hill had been with The Fleet since 8th November 2018.

The 9,090 crowd which saw Notts County v AFC Fylde on Saturday 28th September is the biggest attendance so far. The 407 crowd for the Boreham Wood v Sutton United game on Saturday 17th August is the lowest attendance so far.

Scott Quigley (Barrow), Jamie Reid (Torquay United) and Kabongo Tshimanga (Boreham Wood) are all level at the top of the table in the race for the golden boot. They have all scored 9 goals each.

Quigley, aged 27, started his career with The New Saints before moving to Blackpool in 2017. His chances at Bloomfield Road were limited with loan spells at Wrexham, Port Vale and FC Halifax Town before he joined Barrow this May on a three year deal.

Reid, 25, was born in Torquay but started his career with Exeter City with loan spells at Dorchester Town and Truro City along with three stays with The Gulls before making the move permanent in 2017.

Tshimanga, 22, came through the ranks at MK Dons before being released in 2017 after spending time on loan with a host of non-league clubs. He joined Boston United before a stay at Oxford City in the Vanarama South in 2018/19 saw him score 29 goals in all competitions including a FA Cup hat-trick against Tranmere Rovers. He joined Boreham Wood in July. Could he be the next Morgan Ferrier who moved from Wood to Walsall in 2018 or Bruno Andrade who moved to Lincoln City in 2018.
