COMPETITIVE FOOTBALL RETURNS THIS WEEKEND

The 2018/19 local non-league season only ended a few months ago but there is no rest for some teams in the UHL Sport United Counties League and Chromasport Peterborough & District League as the 2019/20 campaign kicks off this weekend with the annual ground-hop where there are an incredible eight games over three days starting at Stamford Lions and ending at Whittllesey Athletic on Sunday evening.

Orton Rangers, who play at The Nene Valley Community Centre in Peterborough, were only formed in 2016 and are likely to have the biggest crowd in their history so far when they entertain Parkside on Saturday afternoon. Like many of the clubs taking part they have lots of other things going on such as a cake stall, club kit and pin badges for sale and a bouncy castle. There is also a raffle with prizes including two tickets to a Peterborough United league game of your choice, The match ball signed by all the players and a voucher for 50% off when hiring the venue at Nene Valley community centre.

FC Polonia kick things off when they travel to Stamford Lions on Friday evening for a Premier Division game. The Lions finished in 4th place last season with their visitors looking to have a better campaign having finished bottom of the table with just two wins in their thirty league games played.

Good Luck to everyone involved - I hope the weekend is a great success!
