BOSTIK PREMIER DIVISION WEEKEND PREVIEW

Bishop's Stortford v Haringey Borough

A difficult game to predict. The visitors need three points to keep up their now outside chance of winning the title - I think even the most ardent of Haringey fans will now say it's an unlikely they'll finish top - they will have to win most (if not all) of the remaining eight games and hope Dorking Wanderers, who have won their last eleven games in a row, start to drop points at an alarming rate. The home side's chances of reaching the play-offs probably now are over and they are without a win in their last six league games. However, they have drawn three of those and the defeats have only been narrow ones (0-1 x 2 and 1-2).

PREDICTION - Haringey Borough have drawn their last two games and Bishops Stortford have drawn three of their last six. This could end all square.

Brightlingsea Regent v Lewes

Twelth v Eleventh in the table. Neither side is going to go down or reach the play-offs. Both Regent and The Rooks have one victory each in their last six games which both came against teams well out of form in Kingstonian and Corinthian-Casuals . Lewes won the game at The Dripping Pan 5-0 just before Christmas.

PREDICITON - Regent got a decent 1-1 draw at Worthing in their last game with Lewes losing heavily 4-0 at Folkestone Invicta so I'll side with a narrow home victory for the Essex side.

Dorking Wanderers v Carshalton Athletic

Can the table toppers and title favourites make it twelve league wins in a row? This will be a tough game for them as the visitors are the second best form side of the division with six wins and four draws in their last ten games which is a run that has given last season's Division One (South) champions a real chance of finishing in the top five. Former Dulwich Hamlet and Enfield Town fan's favourite Harry Ottaway has been in good scoring form the visitors netting a hat-trick recently against Folkestone Invicta. Ricky Korboa and Jacob Mendy have also been scoring on The Robins good run of form.

PREDICTION - Who would bet against a side who have won eleven league games in a row and have won their last seven home games by an aggregate scoreline of 27-4? It's likely to be a home win but if any side are going to take points from them it has to be the in-form Carshalton Athletic. They drew 0-0 in November at The War Memorial Ground.

Enfield Town v Bognor Regis Town

Fifth v ninth in one of the games of the day and a real play-off six pointer as just four points separate the two teams. The Rocks are without a win in four league games with Town getting a valuable 1-3 win at in form Whitehawk last weekend which was a game which saw former Kingstonian and Dulwich Hamlet striker Muhammadu Faal return after an injury sustained against Potters Bar Town in December put him out for just over two months.

PREDICITON - The Rocks have a decent away record with only three defeats in the seventeen league games they have played. Faal has been a talisman for Enfield Town with five wins in the five games he has been involved in so he could be the difference. He made his debut in their 1-2 victory at Bognor Regis Town in December. This one will be close and the first goal will be important. I think Enfield Town may just edge it

Harlow Town v Wingate & Finchley

A huge game at the bottom of the table as twentieth plays twenty-first in the table. A win for The Hawks could potentially lift them out of the relegation zone pending on Whitehawk's result with an away win seeing Wingate leap frog Harlow in the table and potentially go level on points with the Sussex club. Wingate lost a close game 1-2 against Dorking Wanderers last weekend with Harlow Town winning 3-0 at home to an out of form Kingstonian. The Hawks have only won four of their seventeen home league games which doesn't make good reading but three of those have come in their last five so they have improved of late. Since the start of February, aside from a 0-3 defeat at AFC Hornchurch, the North London side have had close games with scores being 1-2, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2, 2-2, 1-2, 2-1, 0-3 and 1-2.

PREDICTION - Wingate can't afford to lose this game whereas a draw wouldn't be the end of the world for Harlow Town with both sides letting in goals in most games. It's been ten games since Harlow had a clean sheet with the visitors on fourteen games since conceding none. I think Harlow may just shade this one with the recent acquisition of experienced midfielder Scott Davies (who helped win Slough Town promotion last season) being a key player for them.

Kingstonian v Burgess Hill Town

It's been a difficult season for both sides with Burgess Hill Town rooted to the bottom of the table and Kingstonian in fifteenth place when many people thought they may well be involved in the title race before the season started. Former Hemel Hempstead Town and Billericay Town boss Dean Brennan was appointed K's manager in February following Leigh Dynan's departure and he has signed a number of impressive players since then as the K's squad has been revamped.

Right sided defender Jonathan Muleba who started the season with Braintree Town in non-league's top division, centre back Ismaal Yakubu (from Hemel Hempstead who has played for Barnet and AFC Wimbledon), left back Tom Bird (from Merstham),  Midfielder/Defender James Kaloczi (from Hemel), Midfielder Connor Smith (on loan from Billericay Town), Dan Spence (on loan from Woking who was part of the Sutton United 16/17 FA Cup squad that famously knocked Leeds United out) have all joined Brennan's new look squad.

Dynan left The K's after a 7-1 defeat to Dorking Wanderers and since Brennan's appointment they have drawn one and lost three.

The Hillians replaced long serving boss Ian Chapman with former Lewes and Crawley Down Gatwick manager Simon Wormwull in November.

PREDICTION - It's been thirteen games since Burgess Hill Town won with The K's on a ten game run without a win. The visitors have lost their last two games 0-6 and 0-3 and only have two wins away from home all season. I think with the quality of players Brennan has signed for his new club it'll be a first win for him this weekend.

Leatherhead v Folkestone Invicta

Another play-off six pointer as tenth plays eighth in the table. The home side are three points off of fifth with the visitors two points off. The Tanners are in good form winning six of their last ten with Invicta getting back to winning ways in style last time out beating Lewes 4-0 - this was after two defeats in a row against Enfield Town and Carshalton Athletic. Ira Jackson (signed from South-East Division Sittingbourne earlier in the season) scored a hat-trick in the game against Lewes in only his sixth game for the club most of which have been from the bench.

PREDICITON - Another close game which I think Leatherhead may just shade being the home side.

Margate v Merstham

Since former Maidstone United boss Jay Saunder's appointment at Margate the team's form has improved immensely. The Gate have played six games under the new management team winning four and drawing two with Dover Athletic player Kadell Daniel really impressing scoring a goal in the last four games in a row. At the time of writing I'm unsure if he'll feature in this game as his loan was only originally announced as a month and nothing has been announced as yet.

The Moatsiders are having a great season being in third place only three points off of second placed Haringey Borough. They have found scoring somewhat difficult of late with only six goals scored in their last six games - however they have won three of them.

PREDICITON - An improved Margate will narrowly win this game either 1-0 or 2-1.

Potters Bar Town v AFC Hornchurch

Both teams are still close to the relegation zone but should be safe with one or two more victories. The Scholars have failed to score in three of their last six games of which they have won two both away from home. They haven't won in eight home league games with seven of those being defeats.

Charlie Stimson has been in good scoring form for The Urchins and they have three wins in their last six league games.

PREDICTION - Could end all square or AFC Hornchurch will nick it by the odd goal.

Tonbridge Angels v Corinthian-Casuals

After their 0-2 win at Enfield Town in January, where they scored both goals in injury time, The Casuals have lost six and drawn two of their eight games played which has seen them drop down towards the relegation zone. The Angels have only one defeat in ten games but their last four games have ended 0-1, 0-0, 0-0 and 1-0 so goals have been a rarity at both ends.

PREDICITON - Both sides have drawn two of their last three games but I think The Angels, chasing a play-off spot, will have too much for The Casuals.

Worthing v Whitehawk

The big South Coast derby game with the result having an effect at both ends of the table. The Hawks won four in a row before losing to Enfield Town last weekend and still need wins to keep out of the relegation zone. Worthing have drawn four and won two of their last six games - one of which was the amazing 9-1 home win against Harlow Town.

PREDICITION - The Hawks lost the game at The Enclosed Ground at the beginning of January which ended 1-2. I think this will end in a draw - possibly 2-2.

ENFIELD TOWN FANS (PICTURED AT THE POTTERS BAR TOWN GAME EARLIER IN THE SEASON) WILL BE MAKING LOTS OF NOISE IN THEIR GAME AGAINST BOGNOR REGIS TOWN ON SATURDAY
