It's been a bit of a rough ride for everyone associated with Burnham Football Club over the last few years as the Buckinghamshire club have slipped down from step three of the non-league ladder in 2015 to step six for the 2018/19 season.
So it's great to see the UHL Sport Hellenic League Division One (East) side having some real FA Cup glory this season.
In the Extra Preliminary Round they beat Abingdon United 2-0 in a replay after a 2-2 draw followed by a 2-4 win at Ardley United in the Preliminary Round.
These two victories over step five Hellenic Premier Division sides set up yesterday's home game in the first qualifying round against step four Bostik North side Bury Town. The Blue won 1-0 and now play in the second qualifying round - so far they have banked over £10,000 in Football Association prize money.
Will they go as far as they did in 2005/06 when they went to the First Round Proper where they lost to Aldershot Town.
They join fellow step six sides Anstey Nomads (United Counties League Division One), Atherstone Town (Midland League Division One) in the second qualifying round.
Parkgate FC, of the Northern Counties East League Division One, could make it four teams from step six if they beat Leek Town in their first qualifying round game this midweek.
Burnham have two more cup games coming up this week with a Berks and Bucks Senior Trophy game at home to Binfield Reserves this Tuesday and an FA Vase game at Wellingborough Town next weekend.
