It was all square between Enfield Town and Folkestone Invicta in the opening day Bostik League game at Donkey Lane today. The Towner's had a starting XI all making their debut for the club as the Andy Leese era got underway. The visitors had alot of the possession in the first half and were much the better side going forward with debutant Ade Yussuff causing problems throughout playing in free role across the top line. It was his run down the left wing which set up Ian Draycott who was unlucky not to score with a far post header which flashed past the post.
It was much better in the opening moments of the second half for the home side when Drew Roberts received the ball at the edge of the box and placed the ball past Tim Roberts in the away goal to make it 1-0. Invicta put on the pressure looking for an equaliser and got their reward when a quickly taken free kick caught the Towners out and allowed Yussuff to tap home from close range. The final minutes of the game got quite scrappy with a few fouls and bookings given.
It's early days yet for both sides. A 1-1 draw was about the right result. Former Dagenham and Redbridge striker Ade Yussuff looks a really good signing for Invicta - he will score many goals this season I think.
