Based purely on the 'points dropped' statistics the current top two are favourites for the title - this does underline how important and massive the local derby game on Tuesday 27th December between Welwyn Garden City and Hertford Town is. A win for The Citizens would put them just three points below their rivals and move them right up into the title race with the current top two. Cockfosters are in third having won their last six league games in a row which has included two brilliant away wins at London Colney and Hertford Town.
I used the phrase "defender's win leagues" yesterday in the Ryman League round-up so if this is true you can't look past either London Colney or Hertford Town who have the best defensive records at 0.91 and 0.84 goals conceded per game. Wembley have the best goals per game record at an amazing 3.50 scored per game!
Sixth placed Hoddesdon Town are the most improved side - they lost five of their opening ten games played but have since only lost one in eleven games of which they have won seven. They had a points per game of 1.3 over their first ten games which has been upped substantially to 2.18 over their last eleven games.
London Colney's next fixture is a big Christmas local "A414 derby" against Colney Heath which are always competitive games....but there will be some added spice seeing as Heath have recently recruited a new Manager in Ryan Thompson who guided London Colney to two successive second placed finishes in 2014/15 and 2015/16. The Magpies form has improved since he took over - they have won two, drawn one and lost one of their four league games played with ex London Colney forward James Ewington among the goals - he joined from Welwyn Garden City. Just Jamie Eames, Charlie May and Bradley Robinson remained in the starting XI in their most recent game (a 1-3 win at Sun Sports) from the the last game under former boss Micky Nathan on Saturday 19th November.

St Margaretsbury may lay claim to be the most improved side compared to Hoddesdon Town who they play on Tuesday 27th December. John Barker's side won no games in their first twelve games but have since won four in their last six games upping their PPG from 0.33 to 2.00.
