THE LOCAL NON-LEAGUE TEAM OF THE WEEKEND

Welcome to a new feature on The Cold End where every Sunday at 3pm we crown the local non-league team of the weekend. Today it was really close between four teams - one being from the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, one from the Ryman Premier Division and two from the Ryman Division One (South).

In the SSMFL fourth placed Cockfosters went to runaway leader's London Colney who had only lost one league game in their seventeen played so far. 'Fosters went down to ten men on 35 minutes but still managed to win by a score of 2-3 thanks to goals from Ben Hart, Ioannis Varouxakis and Bobby Sears.

In RD1(S) the table topper's Dorking Wanderers on an unbeaten league run of seven games welcomed 23rd placed Three Bridges who had only won only two in nineteen games so far. The Bridges recorded an unlikely 0-1 victory thanks to Tony Garrod's 76th minute goal.

South Park visited Vanarama South side Oxford City in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round. It was a great day for the Ryman D1(s) side as they won 1-2 against a side two steps above them in the non-league pyramid. Kieran Lavery and Joe Jackson were the scorers for the underdogs.

In the Ryman Premier Division Hendon continued their improved form of late recording an excellent 0-2 victory at Bognor Regis Town. Their second victory at title challenger's in as many Saturdays. Keagan Cole and Luke Tingey scored the all important goals for Gary McCann's side.

In the end, The Sparks with their amazing away-day victory, just shaded it. To go to a team two steps above them and win is well worthy of the award. They have beaten Guernsey, Faversham Town, Hastings United and now Oxford City in their 2016/17 FA Trophy run. Good Luck to them in the First Round where they stand a chance of drawing a Vanarama National League side.
