When Enfield Town's rival's Billericay Town visit Donkey Lane on Tuesday 10th January for an eagerly anticipated Ryman League fixture it's likely to be a much changed starting XI fielded by the Essex side as their is a prospective change of ownership announced at The New Lodge followed by Craig Edwards making a number of impressive signings prior to their game with the Metropolitan Police on Saturday.

Businessman and ex non-league player Glenn Tamplin, who had been part of a consortium who negotiated to purchase Vanarama National Side Dagenham & Redbridge earlier in the season, is in advanced talks with the current owners and it's thought an official deal will be announced this week.

Tamplin has announced grand plans for The Blues to be playing in League Two in seven years with a new look 6,000 capacity stadium alongside a 4G training pitch and other impressive facilities. He also announced in an interview with Phoenix FM that he has already doubled Craig Edward's playing budget for the season.

Prior to their 1-1 draw with Metropolitan Police they announced the signings of the following players -

Luke Moore - who was part of the AFC Wimbledon who achieved promotion from the Conference in 2010/11. He has also played for Ebbsfleet United and won the FA Trophy in 2008. The 28 year old has also played for the England C squad. He joins from Vanrama South side Margate.

Matt Johnson - the 26 year old midfielder signs from Vanarama South Margate where he was Captain.

Danny Fitzsimons - a 23 year old centre-back who then Luton Town boss paid a six figure fee for when he moved from Histon to Kenilworth Road.

Michael Bakare - the striker joins on loan from Vanarama National league side Wrexham. He was a prolific scorer with Aveley, Bishops Stortford and Chelmsford City prior to moving to the Welsh club.

Prior to these signings and the news of the impending take-over it was announced Terence VanCooten had joined on loan from Championship side Reading and ex Dagenham & Redbridge player Ade Yusuff on loan from Chatham Town along with Teddy Nesbitt rejoining the club on dual registration with Vanarama South side East Thurrock United and Shane Cojocarel on a three month loan from League Two side Barnet. Darelle Russell also joined from Division One (North) side Waltham Abbey where he has impressed many people scoring thirteen goals for The Abbey this season. Central defender Jerome Sobers has also joined from league rival's Tonbridge Angels.

It has also been announced in the last few days that striker Billy Bricknell, 28, has rejoined the club from Vanarama South side Chelmsford City for an undisclosed fee. He has also played for Dover Athletic, Maidstone United and Ebbsfleet United during his career.

Of the team and substitutes that started The Blue's first game of the season only goalkeeper Jack Giddens, Conor Hubble, Quentin Monville and Gabby Adelowo were in the sixteen that represented the club versus the Metropolitan Police.

The Essex side are currently in tenth position of the Ryman Premier Division - I would say it's likely they will start to climb the table over the next few months with the quality of players that have been brought in but in turn they will now be the team everyone wants to beat so it's interesting and very exciting times ahead for their supporters.

The bookmakers make Billericay Town 19/20 favourites to win their game tomorrow with AFC Sudbury (18th) rated at 5/2 and the draw at 14/5. They are on the road to Worthing on Saturday before a midweek trip to Met Police on Tuesday 6th December and then Burgess Hill Town on Saturday 10th December.

  1. Surly as soon as the new owner starts talking about doubling the wage bill any potential signings will be pushing up their demands, that doesn't necessarily make them any better players, just more expensive players. Exciting times for Billericay fans but how many of these scenarios have we seen down the years that end in tears?

  2. This is my kind of news. We are way to cluttered/bombarded with negative news. You have a great positive attitude towards news. Thanks for sharing.
