FUND RAISING AT HACKNEY WICK

Middlesex County Division One (Central & East) side Hackney Wick last home league game of the season is scheduled for Saturday 12th March when Mile End Park Rangers visit Mabley Green. The game sees the club support women's team player Ashleigh Cannon fund raising efforts in running the London Marathon in aid of the SCOPE charity.

The newly formed club's first team are bottom of the division at present winning only one of their twelve league games played so far which came in a memorable 4-3 home win against Paddington Elite on Saturday 16th January.

There have been many positives off the pitch as the club look to promote community events forming a women's team and a Saturday morning youth academy amongst other stuff.

The positive work carried out by the club has been featured on BBC Five Live and BT Sport. The men's team player's ages range from sixteen to thirty with the average being around nineteen so the club is giving young men good options in life instead of hanging around on street corners. This is great to see and long may it continue - A London Borough the size of Hackney deserves a non-league club they can call their own*

You can follow the club on twitter @HackneyWickFC

* Not forgetting Sporting Hackney (known at The Parrots) who are currently third bottom in the Middlesex County Premier Division. Follow them @SportingHackney - they were formed in 1986 as part of an initiative to support local young unemployed people in the borough.
