Crawley Green are setting the pace in the race for the Spartan South Midlands League Division One title. They have won all nine of their league games and a closely follwed by Edgware Town who have won seven of their eight games with the only blemish on their record being a surprising 0-1 home defeat to Buckingham Athletic on Saturday 22nd August. The two rivals have to wait a few months to face each other on Saturday 16th January when The Wares travel to play Crawley Green. The reutrn game is at Silver Jubilee Park on Saturday 16th April which is the second from last game of the season - Could this game be a potential title decider?
The current top four teams in the division have 100% winning records away from home with sixth placed Harpenden Town and tenth placed Ampthill Town (another 100% away record) the other unbeaten teams on their travels. It's a stark contrast to Ampthill's home form which reads just one point gained from five games. If they can transfer some of their away form to Ampthill Park they may start to climb the table.
Wodson Park have made their best start to a season in a long while - since they were promoted to this level they have finished in 14th, 16th, 18th, 17th and 16th postitions so to be in fifth place will please everyone associated with the Hertfordshire club. They have won all four of their home games but have stuggled away with just one win and two draws in five games. There home record will be sternly tested with the visit of Edgware Town on Sautrday 17th October. Every team in the division has at least one win which is good to see.
