Enfield Town started their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win versus Evo Stik Southern League Division One (Central) side AFC Rusden and Diamonds at Donkey Lane. Corey Whitely scored a penalty in the first ten minutes with Diamonds scoring on 85 minutes. Ralston Gabriel scored the winner a few minutes later to cap a promising performance from the Town side. A number of new players/trialists were including as follows -
David Hughes our new goalkeeper signed from East Thurrock United played in the second half on for Anthony Page.
Jake Hutchings, a 19 year old defender, has played for Torquay United and from January to May was with Scottish side Heart of Midlothian where he played for their under 20 side.
Jandir Da Cruz - The mystery man!! I have no information about this player at present
Aswad Thomas is a 25 year old left-back/defender with lots of experience having played for Charlton Athletic as a youth player and then Accrington Stanley, Barnet and Lewes on loan before joining Woking, Braintree Town, Grimsby Town and then going back to Woking. He played nearly 100 times for Grimsby between 2012 to 2015 where he was 2013 FA Trophy runner-up and played in two Conference play-off semi-finals. It was reported Grimsby paid Braintree around £15,000 for his services.
Micky Parcell, a 19 year old midfielder, was born and raised in Enfield and signed a professional contract with Torquay United last summer. He completed a two year scholarship with The Gulls prior spending some time on loan with Truro City.
Samir Bihmoutine is a 21 year old left sided player who was with Wealdstone, Burnham and Hayes & Yeading for some of last season. He has also represented AFC Bournemouth and Arsenal at youth level.
Alex Cathline is a striker standing a 6ft 3inches. He is another local lad who has been with Stevenage FC's academy, on loan at Crawley Down Gatwick and also with Wycombe Wanderers and Wingate and Finchley as a youth player.
Enfield Town's next pre-season friendly is on Tuesday evening at home to a Brighton and Hove Albion XI.
