It was a local derby with a twist on Tuesday evening at London Colney 'hosted' Colney Heath at The Recreation Ground in the Spartan South Midlands League Dudley Lathom Memorial Cup Quarter-Final. The tie was originally due to be played at London Colney's home but was switched to Colney Heath due to problems with the playing surface at Cotlandswick.
The game was watched by a crowd of 79 people who braved what was a very frosty and cold evening with many local games called off earlier in the day.
It was Heath who took the honours in what turned out to be a somewhat scrappy but competitive game. Heath were 2-0 up with London Colney getting one back (not captured on camera unfortunately) with around 20 minutes left which set up a more nervy finish for the home side. A great save late on by the Heath keeper kept the score at 2-1 which moves them into the Semi-Final. On the balance of play it was the 'away' side who deserved the win.
