The FA Vase Fifth Round proper draw has been made with the four remaining Fourth Round games due to be played this weekend. Norwich United had a fantastic 0-5 win on Tuesday evening at Ashford United to get through to the last sixteen which is one more round further than they got last year when they lost to Ampthill Town in the fourth round.
There are, as ever at this stage of the competition, some long trips for the club's involved. Stanway Rovers who last got to the fifth round in 2007/08 when they lost to Coventry Sphinx make the 680 mile round trip from Essex to Cornwall and back again to face AFC St Austell who recorded an impressive 2-3 win at Greenwich Borough in the last round.
Phoenix Sports are certainly clocking up the miles. They travelled to Bodmin Town in the last round now go North instead of South to play North Shields.
BetVictor make North Shields the current favourites at 4/1 followed by Dunston UTS (6/1), Tadcaster Albion (7/1), Shaw Lane Aquaforce (8/1) and Erith & Belvedere at 14/1.
It is the best season for North Shields for many a year. They are current Division Two Champions of the Northern League and this is there best run in the Vase in their history. They are currently top of Division One and are certainly title contenders alongside West Auckland Town, Guisborough Town, Marske United and others.
