There was some fantastic news for non-league football in South London, and in particular Fisher Football Club, announced on Tuesday evening. Southwark Planning Committee voted by 8-0 to approve the development of a new community football facility at St Paul's Playing Field in Rotherhithe which will have a state of the art 3G surface. This will be a stone's throw from the spiritual home of the old Fisher Athletic Stadium in the Surrey Docks which is currently derelict - This area will be redeveloped for housing. Congratulations to all at The Fish in all their hard work to get their club back to Bermondsey. More hard work starts now and building work is scheduled to commence in 2015 on the 1,950 capacity stadium which will be of Ryman Premier standard.

2014/15 will be Aveley's final season at The Mill Field
In 2015/16 they are set to move into a new stadium at Belhus Park

Aveley are also set to be on the move as earlier in the year Thurrock Council approved plans for a new £2.8 million pound stadium in nearby Belhus Park. Like many clubs The Miller's will have a 4G pitch installed allowing for all the club's teams (from youth to senior) to use and also valuable rental to other local clubs. The new ground is to be financed almost entirely from the sale of The Mill Field and surrounding land. Work on the redevelopment of this site will not start until the new stadium in complete so there will be no upheaval to the club and supporters.
A new ground for Whitehawk

Meanwhile ambitious Whitehawk, of the Conference South, are also looking to build a new ground to replace their Enclosed Ground in East Brighton. No date or planning permission has been set as I know of but it looks very impressive in the artist's impression above. Click on the link to The Hawk's website to see more pictures.
