2014/15 PRE-SEASON UPDATE

There were a number of Ryman Premier Division sides in pre-season action over the weekend. Kingstonian played three lots of thirty minutes versus Division One South side Walton Casuals at the Xcel Leisure Centre on Saturday. The K's won comfortably by 0-3 through goals from Andre McCollin and Nathaniel Pinney (2). Twenty-three year old Pinney looks a great signing for the K's new manager Tommy Williams. He played under Williams at Carshalton Athletic in the 2012/13 scoring over 20 goals. Williams will be assisted by ex Enfield striker Gary Abbott for the 2014/15 campaign.

Wingate and Finchley took a squad of seventeen players to North Wales to play Welsh Premier League side Prestatyn Town. New signing David Knight (from Division One North Thurrock) opened the scoring for the North London side with Gary Suddell added a second to make the final scored 0-2. Both goals were scored in the first half. Ex Enfield Town centre-back George McCluskey came on as a substitute to make his debut for the blues.

Lewes welcomed a full strength Brighton and HA side to The Dripping Pan. The game was well attended as 2,300 people watched the Championship side run out 0-5 winners. The Rooks included a number of new players such as forward Elliott Romain who has signed from Three Bridges. It was the first game for new Seagull's boss Sami Hyypia whose goals were scored by Inigo Calderon, Kazenga LuaLua, Craig Mackail-Smith and youngster Shamir Fenelon (2).

Metropolitan Police ran out 1-3 winners at Spartan South Midlands League side Hillingdon Borough. I am unsure of the scorers or details of this match.

Margate have also been in action against Irish Premier League side UCD on Monday 30th June. Terry Brown's new looks side went down 3-0. New Striker's Jason Prior (from Dartford), Zac Attwood (from Maidstone United) and Ryan Moss (from Kingstonian) all had run outs for The Gate.
