TOWN FINISH* PRE-SEASON WITH A WIN OVER THE BLUES

Enfield Town welcomed Bishops Stortford to Donkey Lane on Tuesday evening in the last of their pre-season friendlies and put in an impressive performance against a decent Conference South side.

Corey Whitely (who has joined from Cheshunt) looks a really good addition to Steve Newing's squad. He has pace and skill in adundance on the wing and put a number of good crosses into the box. Whitely was in the Ryman Division One (North) team of the year for 2012/13 after drawing in a number of football league club scouts to Theobalds Lane during the second half of last season. He was with Waltham Forest up until January where he scored 12 times in 21 starts.

Town's goals came from a Liam Hope header early on and Campbell with around ten minutes to go.

* note - this wasn't the official end of the pre-season games for Enfield Town as yesterday was a real day to remember for the players and officials of the club. The team were invited by Tottenham Hotspur to play a behind closed doors friendly match at their new state of the art training ground in Whitewebbs. The Spurs team included new signings £17m Paulinho, £7m Nacer Chadli and £26m Roberto Soldado along with Gomes, Walker, Naughton, Livermore, Huddelstone, Dembele and Lennon in their starting line-up. The final score was 0-11 (Soldado bagged a hat-trick) and the experince summed up by Adam Wallace who tweeted "Chasing shadows was so decent today - great experience".
