FLASHBACK - MAY 1995 - WHEN ENFIELD FC WERE CHAMPIONS??

In prepartation for the new 2012/13 season that Enfield Town FC will play in the Ryman Premier Division I have dug out from the archives here at Cold End Towers a copy of the Enfield Independent from 3rd May 1995. This was the last time a team representing Enfield tasted glory in the Ryman Premier. It shows the old Enfield FC celebrating the title win in 1995 with some familiar fans faces on the pitch with featured on the front cover of the newspaper.

The following wonderful words written by Pat Cunneen sums up what supporting Enfield at the time was all about - "It took another moment of magic from Martin St Hilaire after 25 minutes to level the scores. Saint burst through from midfield and with a dazzling turn of speed took three defenders out of the game before floating an inch perfect cross into the area for John Bailey to score with a diving header".

The above Estate Agent advert shows how times have changed in the area over the last 17 years as back then you could pick up a three bedroom semi-detached property on Willow Road for £99,500 or a flat above a shop on the Hertford Road in Edmonton for only £33,000.
