The race for the title in the Essex Senior League swung towards Stansted on Wednesday night when Enfield 1893 unexpectedly lost at home against ninth placed London APSA. The Newham based side recorded a 1-2 win to put a dent in 1893's title hopes in front of an attendance of 96 people which was the largest crowd APSA have played in front of in the ESL since 23rd March 2006 when they faced AFC Hornchurch at home in front of 142 people.

The Airportmen still remain unbeaten in the league this season and will go one year undefeated in the league if they don't lose against Sawbridgeworth Town and Hullbridge Sports in their next two games as their last league defeat was on the 9th April 2010 when they lost 2-1 at Tiptree United.

The title rivals play each other on the 16th April at Goldsdown Road in a match that could decide the title. 1893 will be on 71 points if they win their game versus Southend Manor and Stansted could be on 74 points if they win their three games prior to the big match.

Clapton are bottom of the table with only three wins in twenty-six league games and a goal difference of -41. They face an East London derby today when they travel to Mile End to play Bethnal Green United.
