There is no doubting where the Ryman Division One (North) match of the weekend takes place as the top two title contenders play each other for the first time this season. Will it be unlucky thirteen for league leader's East Thurrock United on a twelve game winning streak who travel to second placed Needham Market??. The two are also top of the current form table and both recorded good wins in midweek. The Rocks won 4-2 at home to AFC Sudbury with Market recording a good 2-3 win away from home at Grays Athletic who went into the match after a 1-2 away win at Harlow Town. Market were 2-1 down but fought back with goals in the 64th and 81st minutes to take the all important three points in what sounded like a brilliant game.
Despite there still being much more football to be played and with a few more twists and turns the importance of winning the game can be highlighted in the following table -
Standings if??? -
East Thurrock United win

1. East Thurrock United 23 18 3 2 57
2. Needham Market 20 16 1 3 49
Needham Market win
1. East Thurrock United 23 17 3 2 54
2. Needham Market 20 17 1 2 52
As you can see if ETU win they go 8 points clear but if Market record a victory they'll only be two points below with their three games in hand. The cold end thinks that one thing is for sure being that those who attend the game in Suffolk on Saturday will be seeing the future Champions on the Ryman League Division One (North) playing... which team will it be though??
Town, currently in 12th place, welcome 10th placed local rivals Ware to Goldsdown Road. They will be in good spirits having recorded a good win away at Wingate and Finchley last weekend. They are fifth in the current form league with 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat in their last six games so it's yet another tough game in prospect for Steve Newing and his squad.
Elsewhere a win for Potters Bar Town at home to now bottom placed Ilford will see them move into the play off zone as Maldon and Tiptree are not in action due to Leyton's withdrawal from the league.
UP THE TOWN!!!!
