HOW ARE ENFIELD TOWN DOING?? - A COMPARISON

Last night's game was called off very late to the frustration of the supporters and players who travelled the short distance (and for some long) to Capershotts. So, it's time to look at Town's record over the twenty games played so far and compare it with last season's successful campaign. For the record Town had played twenty league games on the 12th of December last season and here we are at the end of January facing what will be Town's twenty-first game at Oakside against Redbridge on Saturday - Hopefully???

Here is a comparison of the 09/10 and 10/11 seasons including the Leyton results at this time  -

2009/10     20  10  5  5  39  28  35
2010/11     20  10  2  8  39  28  32

As you can see, the team has scored the same amount of 39 and let in 28 goals. It shows that after 20 games last year we had won the same amount of games but lost 3 less so were 3 points better off.

After last night's results of the top three of Needham Market, East Thurrock United and Wingate & Finchley winning again it looks to the cold end as if this will be the top three at the end of the season - the question being which order will they finish in only needs to be answered??

Looking at the table (check out Needham Market's official website for an excellent version with loads of stats added - click link here) it now seems as if it's a fight between about eight to ten teams for 4th and 5th places in the league. An argument can be put forward for Romford who have an excellent record with so many games in hand to claim one of those places but they have only played two less than Town and are only five points above. The Boro face Needham Market at home on in the game of the day on Saturday which will give a good indication as to how good both sides are, they then play Saturday/Tuesday for almost all of February and March.

Town are currently in fifth place in the win percentage table on 50%. Last season's 4th and 5th placed sides (Enfield Town and East Thurrock United) finished on a win percentage of 54.76%.

With so many teams involved and beating each other it's going to a an exciting finish to the season in the race for the play-offs.
