Enfield Town V AFC Hornchurch - Preview

Town take on The Urchins at Goldsdown Road tonight in another pre-season friendly. AFC are no strangers to us having played us before being promoted to the top division a few seasons ago.

They have played two pre-season games so far loosing at Concord Rangers 2-1 on 18th July and on Tuesday drawing 1-1 at Bridge Avenue against Eastbourne Borough in front of a crowd of 193.

AFC have recently been put into administration and will start the 09/10 Ryman Premier season on -10 points. Colin McBride is the manager and they start the campaign proper on 15th August with a trip to Tonbridge Angels.

Last year the club finished 6th in the Premier missing out on a play-off place by 2 points. They had a good run in the FA Cup playing Darren Ferguson's Peterborough United in the First Round proper, loosing 1-0 after a brave performance at Bridge Avenue.

They have among their squad ex Enfield player Andy Tomlinson and ex Town keeper Jason Willis.

FC Sheriff Tiraspol settle for draw

TCE's favourite Moldovan club had to settle for a scoreless draw last night in the Champions League Qualifying match. Sheriff had a goal disallowed in the first half and hit the post in the dying seconds of the match. For large parts of the match they dominated with Prague playing a counter attacking game. The 2nd leg is scheduled for 5th August next week.
Slavia who had several key players such as Deniss Romanovs, ex Liverpool front man Vladimír Šmicer, Josef Kaufman, Tomáš Pekhart and Matej Krajčík missing.

TCE lost the bet last night which is nothing new; We'll see if we can get our money with a Sheriff away win next week.
