CLASSIC FA CUP PROGRAMMES - 1995 - LEICESTER CITY V ENFIELD

January 1995 saw then Isthmian Premier side Enfield FC visit Filbert Street to play Leicester City who were bottom of the then FA Carling Premiership and managed by Mark McGhee.

Enfield managed by George Borg were making their third appearance in the third round and had got to this stage by beating Hemel Hempstead Town, Purfleet, Ruislip Manor, St Albans City and then football league sides Cardiff City and Torquay United. The second round tie against The Gulls went to a replay at Plainmoor which The E's won 1-0 thanks to an Andy Kerr header in a famous victory for the North London side.

City won a largely uneventful game 2-0 - Some fans think if Gary Abbott (suspended due to his red card in the Torquay reply) had of played for the visitors things may well have been different.  David Oldfield and Iwan Roberts were the scorers. 17,351 were in attendance.

The Foxes beat then second tier Portsmouth 0-1 at Fratton Park (14,928) in the Fourth Round before losing 0-1 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers (also then playing in the second tier) in the Fifth Round in front of 28,544.
