What a opening weekend of fixtures it was for the clubs from The Vanarama National League with the game of the day being at Woodspring Park where Weston-super-Mare raced into a lead over last season's play-off final loser's Worthing. Luke Coulson, a new signing from Dartford, netted twice for The Seagulls to make the score 3-0 at half time. However, on 90+6 minutes former Coventry City forward Danny Cashman scored to make it 3-4 and snatch an important three points for Chris Agutter's side. The West Sussex side have a difficult looking trip to St Albans City tomorrow with The Saints narrowly losing to one of the pre-season title favourite's Maidstone United in their first game.
For Torquay United it was a massive celebration as The Gull's fans celebrated their club being under new ownership - their 2-1 win was watched by 3.837 fans which is the highest league crowd since Saturday 29th April 2023 when they drew with Wrexham in front of 4,908. Can they carry on their winning form away at Farnborough?
The Pitching In Isthmian Premier Champions showed what a dangerous team they will be this season as they ran out 1-3 winners at Hampton & Richmond Borough with Liam Nash netting twice and new signing Charlee Adams also on the scoresheet.
It was interesting game at The Beveree as both teams had potential Premier League goalkeepers in action. Ted Curd, on loan from Chelsea, who did so will with Hashtag United last season started for the home side with Mason Terry, on loan from West Ham United, making his competitive debut for The Urchins. The Essex side host Eastbourne Borough tomorrow who drew 1-1 with The Pitching Southern League South champion's Chesham United - Former Slough Town striker Nathan Minas scored an 86th minute equaliser for The Generals who have a very tough game against one of the title favourites as Boreham Wood visit The Meadow.
