AT LAST!!!!!!!! VICTORY FOR THE 61 FC AND A CLEAN SHEET

Many fans may have missed an historic result tucked away down the non-league football results pages yesterday. It occured at The Kingsway Recreation Ground in the Spartan South Midlands League Division Two as 53 people saw THE 61 FC (Luton) win 3-0 against CODICOTE with goals from Rhys Calvano (2) and Sam Willett. It was the home side's first victory since Saturday 22nd December 2018 when they won 4-1 at home to CLEAN SLATE which is a run of 41 games without a win! You have to go back a few more games to their last clean-sheet which was on Saturday 13th October 2018 when GRENDON RANGERS were defeated 2-0.

Congratulations to all involved with THE 61 FC (Luton) - they travel to Buckingham United at the weekend for any league game.

It's been a difficult start to the campaign for Codicote FC who have lost all four of their league games so far - they travel to New Bradwell St Peter this weekend.  They are under the new management of Caolen South who has coached previously at Biggleswade Town, Hendon and Arlesey Town. South has had to recruit a new squad in only a short period of time with many young players in the squad. No doubt with lots of hard work both on and off the pitch the results will follow.

Bush Hill Rangers have made an excellent start to their Herts Senior County Premier Division season winning three out of three games so far. Here are some highlights of their 3-2 win over Hatfield Town last Wednesday (Rangers groundshare at Ware FC) which The Stagz were unlucky not to get a point from with Rangers coming back from 1-2 down to win 3-2 late on in the game.

The home side's goal scorers were Jerrell Cato (2) and Stanley Bodimeade. The Stagz goal scorers were Dayle Cassell-Bhangoo and Andy Morris.

AN FA CUP CLASSIC - VICTORY FOR THE CITIZENS OVER RIVAL'S FC ROMANIA

THE CITIZENS FANS BEHIND THE GOAL GAVE THEIR TEAM SOME GOOD SUPPORT

Emirates FA Cup action was on offer at Herns Way last Tuesday evening as Welwyn Garden City welcomed FC Romania for a Preliminary Round replay following an eventful 1-1 draw at Theobalds Lane the previous Saturday. The first game had seen a red card for The Citizens and a penalty kick awarded to FC Romania deep into injury time which got them their goal. A crowd of 174 people saw this game between the two Southern League Division One (Central) teams who are both expected to do well in their league this season. FCR have signed a number of impressive players for this season and one of them in ex Tottenham Hotspur youngster Zylan Stylandies put them in front early in the game with a truly fantastic strike from outside of the box which Welwyn keeper Charlie Crowley had no chance of saving. The teams then traded goals with Jordan Kinoshi and Dave Keenleyside (penalty) scoring for the home side either side of a header from  the experienced forward Jon Edwards (ex of Royston Town) from a Sean Bonnett-Johnson who was last with Romford in the curtailed seasons. HT - 2-2.

On 59 minutes it was 3-2 when Jay Rolfe got a touch on a free kick that was swung into the penalty area. FC Romania piled on the pressure but it was WGC who looked the more threatening in front of goal especially when in the last 10 minutes FCR were reduced to 10 men after German Petrov received a second yellow and a read card for a foul. Nicky Ironton's side deserved their victory which will be remembered by many of their fans for many years to come.

WGC
Charlie Crowley, Joe Bennett, Lee Close, Jay Rolfe, Jonny Sexton, Ben Spaul, Dave Keenleyside, Charlie Payne, Elliott Bailey (Matty Campbell-Mhlope), Jordan Watson, Jordan Kinoshi (Ryan Doherty).
Subs not used - Callum Taylor, Greg Adinna, Jordan Balogun.

FC ROMANIA
Adrian Darabant, Usman Adeniji (Anthony Edgar), German Petrov, Gelu Lupu (Eusebio Da-Silva), Jesse Armoo (Vladat Sighiartau), Jandir Da-Cruz, Sean Bonnet-Johnson, George Taban, Jon Edwards, Zylan Stylandies, Williams Danquah,
Subs not used  - Elej Fezjo, Jo Russell, Taishan Griffith, Alexandru Duboniuc.

The Citizens now face a tricky away day trip to Norfolk to play Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side Mulbarton Wanderers who have made a good start to their step five season winning three and drawing two leagues games as well as FA Cup wins against Lakenheath (after a 2-2 draw) and Hadleigh United.  There is likely to be a good number of fans making their way from Hertfordshire to give their team more support on The Road To Wembley.

In the league FCR have won three games and lost one so far. They have beaten Ware and Waltham Abbey at home as well as away at St Neots Town with a defeat on the road at North Leigh. They travel to Thame United this weekend followed by a midweek trip back to Herns Way for a league fixture and a chance for revenge.

SOME NUMBERS AND STATISTICS
Winslow United have scored 13 goals and let in none in their three D1 games so far.

Irchester United have let in 20 goals in their four D1 games so far - they have won one game against London Tigers and lost the other three.

London Tigers are bottom of the early D1 table with four defeats in four with just two goals scored. It could be long season for the team who are currently ground-sharing at Amersham Town.

Only Hadley remain with a 100% winning record in the Premier Division.

Pitstone & Ivinghoe are the team to watch if you like goals - They have lost 9-5 to Eynesbury United, 2-4 to Buckingham United and won 5-2 versus Codicote. An incredible average of 9 goals per game!

Harefield United, Oxhey Jets, Hadley and Baldock Town are the only sides with a definite place in tomorrow's FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round draw.

Harefield United have beaten Chipping Sodbury Town and yesterday beat step 4 Binfield who got to the FA Vase final last season. Hadley have beaten Edgware Town and yesterday won 0-4 at Saffron Walden Town who have made a great start to their Essex Senior League campaign. The Jets also won against step 4 opposition when they beat Didcot Town 1-0  yesterday after beating Bitton in the extra preliminary round. Baldock Town had to wait until Sunday afternoon to beat another step 4 side Grays Athletic 2-1 - Town had beaten Wembley in the extra-preliminary round.

Broadfields United (drew at home to Reading City), Risborough Rangers (drew at home to Ascot United),Ardley United (drew away to Royal Wootton Bassett Town)  and Flackwell Heath (drew away at Tuffley Rovers) have a chance to join them with midweek replays.
