Kempston Rovers have announced a busy pre-season schedule as above which includes games in the Harry Robinson Cup and a visit by a Luton Town XI on Saturday 24th July.

The Harry Robinson Cup 2021 is being played between AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Cambridge City and Eynesbury Rovers.

The competition is named after locally born Harry Robinson serving in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He was the club's secretary for 26 years and went on to become the president of the club. He is credited by the original historian of the club as the man who saved the club's existence in the post war period.

Harry donated a cup to the club and requested hat it was played for each year. He was able to attend the first three games to see his cup played for and to present the cup to the winners.

Sadly he passed away in 1996 but is fondly remembered by many people at the club.

The cup has been competed for in the past between The Walnut Boys and an invited opponent in a one off game with the 2021 competition being bigger and better than usual.

The four participating clubs will take part in a round-robin-style group stage between the third and tenth of July, with games being hosted at Kempston, Rushden and Eynesbury. The finals day will be held at Hillgrounds on Saturday 17th July to determine final placings. All profits from the final day will be split equally between the four clubs to help off-set some of the income lost during the pandemic.

The club's home ground is at Hillgrounds Road, Kempston, MK42 8SZ. Here's how to get there:

By car: Kempston is located just off the A6 and A421, and only 10 miles from the M1 and A1. Parking is a plenty in the car park just outside the ground. The turning into the ground is just after Kempston Pool.

By train: The nearest rail station is Bedford St Johns, which is a 30 minute walk from the ground. However, trains only run once an hour to this station from Bedford and Bletchley.

It is recommended to get a train to Bedford, then catch the number 1 bus to Kempston which is about a 5 minute journey or alternately a forty minute walk if you're feeling fit.
