NORTH HOME COUNTIES SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2016/17

The North Home Counties Sunday Football League for 2016/17 gets underway in the first week of September. The league will run with four divisions this season. It is based around Luton and the surrounding areas. The Premier Division has been dominated by three clubs over the past thirty-five years. Since St Josephs won their first title in 1981 they have won it again in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. Club Lewsey won the title in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 with AC Sportsman winning for the last three seasons in 2014, 2015, 2016.

Only 1982 and 1983 (Green Man Brache), 1988 and 1993 (Sacred Heart), Celtic SC in 1990, 1997 and 2000 along with Hexton in 2005 are the only other teams to win the coveted Premier Division title. There was no competition held in 2000/01.

There could be a new name on the Premier Division roll of honour come the end of the season as AC Sportsman have left the league to join the Bedford and District Sunday Football League.
