RYMAN DIVISION ONE (NORTH) WEEKEND PREVIEW

MOTORMEN DUE TO ENTERTAIN THE FOXES

Leyton gaining a point in midweek in their home 1-1 draw with Wingate and Finchley caused Redbridge to slip into the relegation zone. The Motormen have suffered from the adverse weather conditions more than any other team with their last game played at Oakside on the 12th December when they were thrashed 0-5 by Lowestoft. Since then they have only played one game, An away 2-1 defeat to Tilbury on the 16th January.

Their scheduled game on Tuesday night versus VCD Athletic was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch. They are due to play Ilford on Saturday if the pitch has recovered in time. Having only played 20 league games as opposed to Heybridge Swifts, Great Wakering Rovers and Thamesmead Town on 27 games manager Dave Ross and his squad now face a busy few months.
The Foxes gained a point in their midweek draw at Cricklefields with Brentwood Town with Acting Manager Colin Walton recruiting a few new faces to bolster his squad in the last few weeks. Full Back Tom Newell has joined from Blue Square South Thurrock along with Adey Adejokum from Essex Senior neighbours Barking (who made his debut against Brentwood) and Sam West from Brentwood Town who is due to make his debut in the match at the weekend.

The Motormen had three debutant's themselves in the game versus Tilbury in goalkeeper James Marrable (signed from Ware who played for Aveley last season and has also turned out for Tilbury and Barkingside amongst others), Alf Dickinson (signed from ESL Barking) and Donovan Wilson (from Brentwood Town).

Ilford apparently played some good attacking football on Wednesday and gave Ware a fright in the 3-2 defeat at Wodson Park in their previous match so look good to gain a win against the home side who will be probably be slightly rusty following only one game in January. Will the pitch be a good leveller if the game goes ahead??

bwin.com make Ilford 3/2 with the draw being 5/2 and the home win being 5/4. The cold end verdict is this game is too close to call.

The situation at Oakside is not as bad as Coles Park where SSMFL Premier Division side Haringey Borough haven't played a home game since the 24th October (note - the London FA Cup game against Fisher was switched to Champion Hill) with their tenants and cold end favourite's Sport London E Benfica of Division One not playing a home game incredibly since the 23rd September. They try again on Saturday against Sun Postal Sports.

AMBERS AND HAWKS IN RELEGATION CRUNCH MATCH

After winning lots of plaudits amongst Town supporters on Tuesday, Harlow Town face a big game at Theobald's Lane where they face Cheshunt. The Ambers are in 20th place in the league hovering dangerously above the relegation zone after a run of loses in the few games played in November and December. Bob Dearie's side have picked up a draw at Romford on the 19th January and a welcome 0-1 win at Brentwood Town on the 23rd January. In the match at the International Arena Brentwood missed a hatful of chances with The Ambers apparently riding their luck on more than one occasion. The cold end and most fans present at the game on Tuesday night will be predicting Harlow Town to win this one.Having said that the league is full of shock/random results this season so it's still a hard match to call.

bwin.com have cut The Hawk's odds from 7/1 on Tuesday to just 23/10 for the victory on Saturday which still looks value for money against Cheshunt as favourites at 17/20 and the draw being 5/2.

SEASIDERS VISIT GOLDSDOWN ROAD

Town haven't had too much luck against Great Wakering Rovers in the past few seasons. On the 10th October Town were leading 3-1 only for the Essex side to come back to 3-3. Last season they knocked us out of the FA Trophy 0-2 at Goldsdown Road, We beat them 1-0 in the home league game but lost the game at Burroughs Park 1-2 in April.

Rovers have come back to form of late following a blip of four loses in a row recording an excellent away 1-2 victory at East Thurrock United. Last weekend they were cruising 4-0 up at home to Brentwood only for the away side to come back to 4-3 in the final 15 minutes of the match.

New attacking signings for Rovers in Joe Gardner and returning favourite Nikki Beale both from Concord Rangers have added more fire-power alongside top-scorer Neil Richmond who won the Championship last season with Aveley.

Rovers are 4 points below the Town in 6th place and have played 3 more games so it's another all important game for Steve & Del's Blue and White army.

bwin.com make Town 17/20 and the draw 5/2 with an away win at 23/10.

ANOTHER VICTORY FOR LOWIE, A CLOSE GAME AT THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA AND CONCORD TO WIN COMFORTABLY.

Lowestoft Town were given a scare by Ware in December at Wodson Park welcome Tony Faulkner's side to Crown Meadow where since Ilford's win in August the Trawlerboys have won 10 out of 10 league games only letting in 5 goals. Despite Ware's improvement I can't see them leaving Suffolk with anything but a defeat.

Thamesmead Town after their shock 0-3 reverse at home to Romford on Tuesday travel to play Brentwood Town in a match which is difficult to call. TT have only won 4 out of 12 on the road with The Blue's form dipping being six matches without a win after eight without a defeat.

Concord Rangers have announced the signing of another player this week, Pacey winger Joao Carlos who played so well for Aveley last season and has been with Dartford of late has joined and will be in contention to face Potters Bar Town who Rangers beat 0-2 in midweek. This should be a routine home victory at Thames Road.
