THE MONDAY LOCAL NON-LEAGUE NEWS ROUND-UP

MK IRISH AND WINSLOW UNITED ONLY CLUBS WITH 100% WINNING RECORDS IN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
After just two games played in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division only last season's runners up MK Irish and newly promoted Winslow United have 100% winning records. The Irish have started this campaign where they left off last season with two 3-0 wins at FC Romania and at home to Shefford Town and Campton.

Mason Spence (35 goals last season), Ryan Smith 2 (18), George Shrieves (17) have continued on with their goal scoring with Gareth Hunt (signed from Biggleswade United) and Ben Shepherd (signed from Newport Pagnell Town) also chipping in with goals.

Winslow United last played in the Spartan South Midlands League top division back in the 1991/92 season so it's been a welcome return for their loyal fans at Elmfields Gate.

They won 1-2 at Baldock Town on the opening day following this up with an impressive 2-0 home win over Dunstable Town in midweek. Nathan Aamaning (formerly of Potton United and Stotfold), Harry Scott (Aylesbury Vale Dynamos and Risborough Rangers), Ethan Flannagan (new signing from Biggleswade United) and Jack Rowe have been on the scoresheet for The Ploughmen.

The Irish continued their good start in The Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round with a 2-0 win over Southern League Division One Central Division side Welwyn Garden City with Spence and Shrieves on the scoresheet again.

What is great to see is the crowds at The Irish Centre with 202 versus Shefford and 214 for the game against The Citizens.

They visit Pitching In Isthmian North side Concord Rangers on the next round of the cup.

Winslow United have a Cup replay at home this midweek after drawing 1-1 with Hellenic Premier Division side Longlevens on Saturday.
AFC WELWYN MAKE A GREAT START TO LIFE AT STEP FIVE
Last season's SSMFL Division Two Champions AFC Welwyn have made an impressive start in Division One with two wins. They won 1-2 at Long Buckby on the opening day and followed this up with a 3-2 home win over Stotfold Reserves on Saturday in front of a decent 130 crowd. Striker Jack Allen netted twice in the Stotfold win - He signed from Division Two side Bovingdon over the summer where he netted 33 goals in 38 league and cup games last season.

The Romans host Irchester United at Herns Way this coming Saturday.

ENFIELD FC THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND IN THE EMIRATES FA CUP
It was a very eventful FA Cup game at Wadham Lodge on Saturday at Enfield FC, who will be ground sharing at Hertford Town and playing in the Southern League Division One Central this season, won 0-1 and move onto the next round.

They had goal-keeper Lamar Johnson red carded in the second half with substitute George Edgworth saving the resulting penalty kick. They finished the game with 9 men as Ben Wyss was also red carded late in the game.

Alex Salmon's side will travel to the winners of the Frenford v Biggleswade United midweek replay in the next round. United scored a late penalty in that game to make it 2-2 and will travel to East London on Tuesday.
CORINTHIAN-CASUALS START THEIR SEASON WITH A DRAW
Corinthian-Casuals have been relegated twice in as many seasons from The Pitching In Isthmian Premier to the Combined Counties Premier South.

This season they are under the new management of Mu Mann which is his first job in the hot seat in non-league football. He is well known to Casual's fans as he played for the club over three spells as well as Leatherhead, Dulwich Hamlet, Met Police and Bognor Regis Town.

They face an Emirates FA Cup replay at home to North Greenford United on Tuesday - rather fittingly their Brazilian star Raf Barbosa scored their equaliser in the 1-1 draw on Saturday.

They travel to Redhill on Saturday 10th August in their league opener which will be their first game in the Combined Counties League since the 96/97 season!
GREAT START FOR THE NEW SOUL TOWER HAMLETS FC SIDE
During the summer Soul FC who played in the Essex Alliance League Premier Division East merged with Tower Hamlets FC to form SOUL TOWER HAMLETS FC. The Mile End based club started their 24/25 season with an amazing 3-4 win at Welling Town in the Southern Counties East Division One. 51 people saw the home side fight back form 1-3 down to 3-3 only for Joao Cruz to score a last minute winner! They have another away game on Saturday at Meridian VP.

FROM FURTHER AFIELD.....
Washington have lost all three of their EBAC Northern League Division Two games so far this season going down 1-7 at home to Redcar Town on the opening day of the season followed by a 1-0 defeat at Bedlington Terriers and a 6-0 defeat at Prudhoe YC Seniors. They host Jarrow on Tuesday evening followed by Yarm & Eaglescliffe on Saturday. Jack Robertson is the scorer of their only goal!

The Mechanics finished 21st of 22 teams last season - Let's hope they get a win on the board sooner rather than later.
