FC BARESI v BRIMSDOWN ENDS ALL SQUARE & THURLOW NUNN FIRST DIVISION SOUTH UPDATE

FC Baresi picked up their first point as a Step Six club with a creditable 1-1 draw at home to Brimsdown FC on Wednesday evening. It was a a battle of the Essex Alliance League Champions of the last two seasons and also a local derby with FCB currently playing at Wodson Park and Brimsdown ground sharing down the road at Wormley Rovers.

In front of 26 people it was the home side who took the lead via Ahmed Abdulla was able to slot the ball home which fell to him in the box after a long throw. It was 1-1 just prior to half-time when Dylan Kirkler scored for Brimsdown.

Brimsdown, who finshed 9th last season, won 2-1 at home to Basildon Town on Saturday which was an impressive victory as Town had won 2-5 at Cannons Wood on the opening fixture of the season.  Under the management of former Hadley coach Junior Matti I'm sure they will have a good season.

FCB host Newbury Forest in the League Challenge Cup on Wednesday evening before a tough trip to one of the title favourite's Harlow Town next Saturday. The Hawks, who won 7-0 at home to Newbury Forest on the opening day, lost 0-1 at home to Essex Olympian Champion's Rayleigh Town in front of a bumper 359 crowd yesterday.

Newbury Forest ended their nightmare start to the season yesterday with 1-2 win at May & Baker - this was after losing 7-0 and 10-0 in their opening games of the season. Former Tower Hamlets and Romford striker Chakka Barnett netted a double for Forest in the victory!
