MARGATE MAKING AN IMPRESSIVE START TO THEIR SEASON

After their relegation to The Pitching In Isthmian South-East Division for the 2024/25 season it's been an impressive start to the season for MARGATE. Now player/managed by Ben Greenhalgh they achieved one of the stand FA Cup results at the weekend comfortably winning 0-4 at Premier Division Bognor Regis Town. Former Folkestone Invicta striker Ibrahim Olutade netted two of their goals which takes his total to five goals this season.

They have drawn Premier Division side Horsham in the 3rd QR who beat Dorking Wanderers in the last round.

In the league they have only won once but the other three games have been draws - they are currently in 11th place. Greenhalgh has also chipped in with seven goals himself.

The Gate's squad also includes Lukas Fransen-Jones who scored 28 goals in 43 league and cup games for Lancing last season.  He has only scored once so far this season but should start scoring goals for his new team soon!

Fans in Thanet are eagerly anticipating the first league Thanet Derby games since the 2008/09 season - Margate v Ramsgate at Hartsdown Park on Boxing Day should attract a huge crowd. The two local rivals are due to face off in the Kent Senior Trophy on Tuesday 24th September at Ramsgate.

The Gate's next game is a league game away at Beckenham Town tonight - they won 1-2 at Deal Town at the weekend. They then travel to Ascot United for an FA Trophy 2nd QR game.

In their three league games so far they have an average attendance of 585 which is up on their league average of 455 last year.
