A HISTORIC EVENING FOR OIC FC WHO PICK UP THEIR FIRST HERTS SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE WIN

It was a very memorable game for everyone associated with OIR FC at Buntingford Town last Tuesday evening as goals from Ridwan Hussein and Yacub Ahmed saw them pick up their first ever win as a Herts Senior County League club. They were formed in 2020 and move up  from the Middlesex County League Division One (Central & East) for the 24/25 campaign.

The club's routes lie in the Somalian community of North London and beyond - they were crowned Somalian British Champions League Champions for 23/24 when they beat Wembley Rangers at Haringey Borough in July.

Prior to this game they had achieved a very creditable 2-2 draw at Cuffley on the opening day of the season followed by a 3-1 defeat at Chipperfield Corinthians. For the current season they'll be ground sharing at Hoddesdon Town.

Buntingford Town's home ground is a lovely place to watch football and with the addition of floodlights and a small seated stand could easily host Step Five/Six football. Obviously the cost implications of such development are huge but a town with a population of around 8,000 people could support such a club!

OIR followed this game up with a 2-2 draw at Elneny FC on Saturday - Town had a free Saturday but travel to Cockfosters on Tuesday evening with OIR's next game on Thursday evening when they face Hertford Heath who currently ground share at St Margaretsbury.
