FA VASE SECOND ROUND DRAW

To be played on the weekend of Saturday 20th November
WInners £900 losers £275
The Cold End ties of the round are highlighted in RED

North Shields v North Ferriby
The 2015 winners of the FA Vase host the team formed after North Ferriby United (Vase runner's up in 1997 and FA Trophy winners in 2015) were dissolved in 2019. The Villagers are currently in second place of the Step Six Northern Counties East League Division One with The Robins in fifth place of the EBAC Northern League Division One.
Billingham Synthonia v West Auckland Town
A huge all EBAC Northern League game as Division Two side Billingham Synthonia welcome twice runner's up West Auckland Town who in the last four seasons have reached the 4th round, quarter-final, 5th round and 5th round. The Synners who lost their Central Avenue ground in 2017 have been ground-sharing since - they currently share with Wearside League side Norton and Stockton Ancients at the Norton Sports Complex. To get to this stage they have beaten Division One side Whitley Bay, Division Two side Brandon United and FC Isle of Man of the North West Counties League Division One South. They reached the SF stage back in 06/07 where narrowly missed out on a trip to Wembley as they went on on penalty kicks to AFC Totton and also reached the fifth round stage in 2011 and 2012.
Thornaby v Consett AFC
Another massive all EBAC Northern League game as Thornaby (currently in 7th place) entertain table topper's Consett AFC who lost to Hebburn Town in the 2020 final. It was a 2-2 draw in August when they met in the league at Consett in front of a crowd of 544 people.

Rugby Town v Hinckley Leicester Road
Around 20 miles seperate the Warwickshire towns of Rugby and Hinckley so this will be a much anticipated local derby. Both play in the UHLSport United Counties Premier Division South - The Knitters only defeat so far this season came in the FA Cup against Hanley Town with 19 games played, one defeat, one draw and 17 wins. Rugby Town (as VS Rugby) famously won the Vase in 1983 beating Halesowen Town 1-0 at Wembley. 146 people saw Hinckley LR beat Rugby Town 3-1 in the league in September.

Racing Club Warwick v Coventry Sphinx
Another local derby game as Coventry Spinx, who won 9-0 in the last round, make the short journey to Midland League Premier Division side Racing Club Warwick who have defied their league form in the FA Vase. They have only one win in eleven league games but have beaten Chelmsley Town and Bewdley Town to get to this stage.

Whittlesey Athletic v Worcester City
The home side were only formed in 2014 as a result of Peterborough & District League side's Whittlesey United and Coates Athletic. The new club won promotion to the United Counties League Division One for the 2016/17 but pulled out of the league midway through the campaign. The 2018/19 season saw them gain promotion back to the UCL with them moving to the Thurlow Nunn League Division One North for the 21/22 season. I'd say the game versus Worcester City is the biggest one in the club's short history and the away side will bring a good number of fans to Cambridgeshire. City, who took voluntary demotion from Step 2 to Step 5 in 2017 reached the fifth round of the Vase in 19/20.

Shefford Town & Campton v Risborough Rangers
An all Spartan South Midlands League tie as Division One takes on Premier Division. The home side recorded an impressive 0-1 victory as Essex Senior side Ilford in the last round with the visitors making a really impressive start to their Premier Division campaign where they are currently unbeaten.
Newport Pagnell Town v Leighton Town
A huge game as the home side who were quarter finalists in 2017 and reached the fourth round in 2109 host the quarter-finalists of 2018, 2020 and 2021. The visitors will bring a good away support on the short trip to Willen Road which is around 15 miles in distance.
Gorleston v Buckhurst Hill
The visitors return to the Norfolk coast after their 1-5 win at Great Yarmouth Town in the last round - This game will be a tougher task for Buckhurst Hill as The Greens are top of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division. However, they have had an amazing start to life in the Thurlow Nunn First Division South losing just one league game so far and beating Newbury Forest and Essex Senior League side Enfield FC to get to this stage.
Wroxham v Newmarket Town
An all Thurlow Nunn Premier game that will attract a big crowd. Wroxham are currently second in the table with Newmarket Town in eighth. The Yachtsmen won 3-5 in a league game at Newmarket in September - they got to the final in 2010 losing to Whitley Bay and reached the QF stage of the 19/20 competition. The Jockey's best run came in 05/06 when they were knocked out by Cammell Laird at the QF stage.
Deal Town v Littlehampton Town
Deal Town famously won the 2000 FA Vase and got the QF stage of the 19/20 competition where they lost at Consett AFC who went onto reach the final. Littlehampton Town were semi-finalists in the 90/91 season losing to Gresley Rovers. They are currently top of the Southern Combination Premier Division scoring 52 goals in just 15 league games!
Crawley Down Gatwick v British Airways
What's not to love than an airport derby as 'Gatwick' take on 'Heathrow' - Not too long ago Crawley Down Gatwick were members of the Isthmian League for three seasons between 2011 to 2014 after moving through the Sussex County divisions (now the Southern Combination League) after the club was formed as Crawley Down Village in 1993. The club known as Crawley Down Gatwick since 2012 dropped down to Step 6 for one season in 2015/16 but have been in the Southern Combination Premier since. Their Haven Sportsfield home is around six miles from Gatwick Airport - Reaching the second round this season matches their best run in the competition as they have reached this stage twice before in 14/15 (lost to Greenwich Borough) and in 07/08 they lost to Brockenhurst.

British Airways Football Club were formed in 1974 when a work's teams representing British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways merged. The club has teams playing in the London Commercial League and West Middlesex League before joining the Middlesex County League in 2007. They were Premier Division champions in 2013 and 2018 and moved up to the Combined Counties League. Their spiritual home is the Concorde Centre in Cranford but they currently groundshare with Bedfont and Feltham.

They lost in the FA Vase for three seasons in a row before this season where they have Step Five sides Dunstable Town (on PKS after a 2-2 draw) and Desborough Town 3-1 along with a comfortable 4-0 win over Step Six side Epsom and Ewell in the last round.

Southall v Chatham Town
Southall are currently second in the Combined Counties Premier North and reached the QF in 16/17 as well as being runner's up in 1986. They comfortably beat Erith and Belvedere in the First Round who were expected to do well this season. Chatham Town are having a good season in the Southern Counties East Premier winning nine of ten league games so far. One of the ties of the round!
Athletic Newham v Pagham
The visitors are currently in second place of the Southern Combination Premier just behind free scoring Littlehampton Town. The home side have moved up from Step 6 to the Essex Senior League and have really performed well so far surprising many - they crept through with a victory on penalty kicks after a 1-1 at Holmesdale at the weekend. Striker Richard Kone has been a stand out player for Athletic Newham scoring 22 goals in 15 games so far. What is a shame is that their crowds have hovered around the 25-40 mark so far. With such a quality side on offer it would be good to see Newham locals watch them play.

Buckland Athletic v Falmouth Town AFC
The home side are doing very well in the Toolstation Western Premier being currently in third place - Falmouth Town are top of the step 6 South West Penninsular West winning all 12 league games played so far. They have ambitions to move up to the Western Premier so this game will be a good indication of how well they will do if they do go up for the 22/23 season.

Bridgwater United v Mousehole AFC
A 'lcoal' tie for Mousehole AFC as they make the 300 mile round trip to play fellow Toolstation Western Premier Division side Bridgwater United. This should be a very attended game as 401 saw the home side win 6-2 in the league in October at Fairfax Park. Bridgwater (as Brigwater Town) have reached the 3rd and 4th round in the last two seasons.
Wellington AFC v Christchurch
A tie which sounds like it could be played in the Southern Hemisphere as aside from Auckland these are two biggest cities in the New Zealand - The visitors are struggling towards the drop zone of the Wessex Premier this season but have a good record in the competition in recent times reaching the fourth round in the last two seasons. They make the trip from Dorset to Somerset to play Wellington AFC who are currently 15th of 19 teams in the Toolstation Western Premier whose best run in the competition is getting to the Third Round on two previous occasions.
