PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN PREMIER DIVISION - THE SEASON BY NUMBERS

 


ONE - Margate, East Thurrock United and Merstham have only won one game each in their Premier Division games played so far. The Gate's came in their first game of the season at Brightlingsea Regent which was ended 1-2 - they have since drawn three and lost five games. The Rocks was at home to Horsham on Tuesday 20th October which ended 3-2. The Moatsider's victory came at home to Corinthian Casuals on Tuesday 29th September in a 3-0 win. 

SIX - Margate have only scored six goals so far in their nine league games played. Five of which came in their first three games played - Since their results have read 0-0, 0-2, 0-1, 1-3, 0-1 and 0-2. The Gate did have a good result prior to lockdown when they won 2-4 at step four side Aylesbury United in the FA Trophy with debutant Norman Wabo, 22, scoring twice. He spent last season with Vanarama South side Dartford and then on loan to fellow Isthmian Premier side Cheshunt. Wabo was born in Newham, East London and came through the academy ranks at Southend United. 

SEVEN - North Division side Canvey Island will play their seventh Emirates FA Cup game on Monday evening against Vanarama National League side Boreham Wood. On their historic run so far Mark Bentley's side has beaten Ware, Dereham Town, Biggleswade FC, Bedfont Sports, Cray Wanderers and Boreham Wood. The game is live on BT Sport. 

SEVEN - Three players currently top the table in the Premier Division top scorer's charts on seven goals each. Charlie Harris (Horsham), Omar Koroma (four for Carshalton Athletic and three for Worthing) and Joe Taylor of Cray Wanderers

TWENTY-ONE & TWENTY - East Thurrock United (2.33 goals per game) and Brightlingsea Regent (2 goals per game) currently have the worst defensive record in the Premier Division. 

ZERO - Only Bishops Stortford remain unbeaten in the Premier Division - they won four and drawn two of their six games played so far. 

TWO - Cheshunt only have two games to win to equal their number of wins from the 2019/20 season. To date they have six wins in ten games played and last season managed only eight in thirty-one. 

ONE & SEVEN - Worthing are top of the table with just one defeat so far which came at Leatherhead. They have won seven of their eight games played. They are currently unable to play home games at their Crucial Environmental Stadium as pitch works and improvements are in progress due to be completed in the new year. Their only 'home game' played so far took place at Horsham FC. 

EIGHTEEN & TWENTY-TWO - Enfield Town have eighteen points from their ten games played so far with 15 goals scored and 17 conceded. In the 2019/20 season they had twenty-two points from their first ten games scoring 24 and letting in 12 goals. 

FIVE & SIX - Bishop's Stortford (0.83 goals per game), Bowers & Pitsea (1 goal per game) and Bognor Regis Town (1 goal per game) have the best defensive record so far.
