EIGHT YEARS AGO - WHERE ARE THEY NOW? - ENFIELD TOWN v NORWICH CITY XI

It eight years ago today when Enfield Town welcomed a young Norwich City side to Donkey Lane on Saturday 28th July 2012. It was a memorable weekend sporting wise at the London Olympic's opening ceremony had just taken place on the Friday night. The game finished 2-2. Town's goals were credited as an own goal (Tyler Campbell's free kick was touched into the net when it re-bounded off the post) and Liam Hope. City's goals came from Jacob Murphy and Olu Durojaiye (assisted by Jamar Loza).

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

Here we take a look at the the Norwich City squad on the day and were they are playing now.

Remi Matthews - Was 18 years old when he faced Enfield Town. The Gorleston born Goalkeeper stayed on the books at Carrow Road until 2019 but didn't make a first team appearance. He did spend time on loan at Plymouth Argyle, Burton Albion, Hamilton Academicals, Bolton Wanderers and Burton Albion. Joined Bolton Wanderers on a full time basis in January 2019.
Football League appearances - 88. Scottish Premier League appearances - 17.

Ewan McNeil - Had only just joined Norwich from Rangers and stayed in Norfolk until 2014 before heading back North of the border to play for Brechin City, Berwick Rangers, Clyde and Stirling Albion. The last team I can find him playing for was Pollock in Scottish Junior Football in the 2018/19 season.

George Brislen-Hall - Came through the famous academy ranks at Arsenal before moving to Norwich in 2012. Moved on to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2013. Played for Enfield Town in some pre-season friendly games of 2015. Has also played for Buckhurst Hill in the Essex Olympian League. I am unsure if he's playing football at the moment.

Olumide Durojaiye - Was with Norwich City for the one season 2012/13 after coming through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur. He moved to Falkirk for two seasons where he made a handful of appearances before playing a number of games for Enfield Town in the early part of the 2015/15 season. He then played for a host of non-league sides and was last with Haringey Borough.

Adel Gafatai - French born defender who had only just turned 18 on the day of the game. He stayed with Norwich until 2016 without making a first team appearance. He made one football league appearance for Oldham Athletic on loan in the 13/14 season. When he left Carrow Road he joined Algerian side MC Ocran before playing in France for Noisy-Le-Sac and Rodeo - He then played in Ukraine for Zirka Kropyvnytyski. He returned to England in 2018 and played for Mousehole FC in the South Western Peninsular League before making the move to then football league side Yeovil Town.  He played in 22 League Two games for The Glovers in the 2018/19 season. He was last with Truro City in the Southern Premier South Division.

Ramil Sheriff - London born defender/midfielder who left Norwich in 2013 and played for Cockfosters, Northwood, Harrow Borough and Haringey Borough. He also played in Belgium for Woluwe-Zaventem. Has one Jamaican full International cap when he came on as a 65th minute substitute against France in 2014.

Jacob Murphy - Went on to play 37 Championship games when he broke into the Norwich City first team in 2016/17 after loan spells with a number of football league sides including a full season in League One with Coventry City in 2015/16 where he made 42 appearances. He signed for Newcastle United in the summer of 2017 for an undisclosed fee and is still with the Premier League club where he had made 34 appearances in the Premier League. He has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Championship with West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday.

Josh Murphy - Twin brother of Josh who also broke into the first team at Carrow Road. He made 100 appearances for The Canaries between 2013 to 2108 before a move to Cardiff City which was reported to be £11,000,000 although it was officially announced as 'undisclosed'. He is still a first team regular for the Welsh club.

Ronnie Hawkins - Hawkins came through the ranks at White Hart Lane and was reported to be attracting interest from Dutch giant's Ajax in the summer of 2012 when he played in this game on trial for The Canaries. He joined Cardiff City in the November of 2012 on a three month contract. I am unsure of where his footballing career went from there. This game was Hawkins second game at Donkey Lane having played for Spurs in the ground opening game in November 2011.

Jamar Loza - Has recently signed for Kings Lynn Town who have just been promoted to non-league's top division. He made a handful of appearances for Nowich City as well as spending time on loan at Coventry City, Leyton Orient, Southend United, Yeovil Town, Stevenage and Southend United. He joined Maidstone United in 2016 and has since played for Woking, Billericay Town, Chelmsford City and Woking.

Callum Webb - Was on trial for Norwich City in this game - It was his only game for The Canaries. He came through the ranks at Arsenal and QPR. He joined Bishops Stortford in October 2012 and has since played for Welling United, Billericay Town, Kingstonian, Walton Casuals, Beaconsfield Town and Canvey Island.

Paddy Hester - Played three games on trial for The Canaries in 2012. He didn't sign a contract with the club. He was a youth player with AFC Bournemouth prior to 2012. He went to play for Wimbourne Town, Bashley and Hamworthy United.

Jack Dean - Another trialist on the day who was with Fulham as a youngster - He Captained their under 18 side. He also trialled with Sheffield Untied before playing in non-league for Worksop Town, Ilkeston and Goole AFC. Has also played in Northern Ireland for Linfield and in Norway for Lysekloster IL.

Callum King - King was listed as a substitute and came on in the second half - I can't find any details about him at present.
