"NO BATTLE NO GLORY" - TALKING TO SONER MUSTAFA - BUSH HILL RANGERS ARE BACK

Bush Hill Rangers were last seen playing at Goldsdown Road in the 2014/15 Spartan South Midlands League Division One season - their last competitive game came on Thursday 30th April 2015 when they beat title winner's Wewlyn Garden City 2-1 in front of 47 people - It's great to see the club making a comeback for the forthcoming season in the Hertfordshire Senior County League. The club will play their home games at the new Donkey Lane 3G pitch close to the home of Bostik Premier side Enfield Town Football Club. The Cold End spoke to Soner Mustafa who is a man of many talents as he is the manager/chairman and kit man for the club.

YOUR FOOTBALLING HISTORY?
I managed Bush Hill Rangers for eleven years and most recently I was at Ware U23’s, managing them last season.

YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT IN FOOTBALL?
Winning the London Cup with Bush Hill Rangers U18’s and then taking the same squad into the Spartan South Midlands League Division One.

WE LAST SAW BUSH HILL RANGERS IN THE 2014/15 SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE DIVISION ONE... WHAT'S THE HISTORY OF THE CLUB AND WHY ARE YOU MAKING A COME BACK FOR THE 2018/19 SEASON?
We took the same group of boys from an U18 amateur team into the semi-professional world, gaining promotion three times to get where we were – with the same core group.

After a few seasons in the SSML, it became too much for me to do on my own, so we passed on the club to Woodford Town FC.

Around this time I was diagnosed with throat cancer and I was unable to get involved in anything. I’m all good now and as the hunger for the game never went away so here we are now. Three seasons down the line and all of our boys have been playing elsewhere – so one night the same core group got together round my house to get us all back together. This year, we have a bigger team around us in the background, so we have a more stable foundation going into the season. All the boys will be stepping down divisions to play together, so we are excited.

WHERE WILL BUSH HILL RANGERS BE PLAYING THEIR GAMES FOR THE 2018/19 SEASON?
We will be playing in the Herts Senior County League Div One – with our home games being at Donkey Lane in Enfield – on the new artificial grass pitch.

WHAT ARE YOUR AIMS FOR THE CLUB THIS FORTHCOMING SEASON?
We are competing in four competitions this year and our aim is silverware – our boys are hungry to win and play some exciting football.

WHICH TEAM ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAYING?
We are really looking forward to igniting some old flames – Hinton FC will be a great local derby!

WHERE DO YOU SEE RANGERS IN FIVE YEARS TIME?
I see us back where we belong – hopefully competing in and around the SSML and winning silverware.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING IN FOOTBALL WHAT WOULD IT BE?
A bigger trust of youth in football – I’d like to see managers trusting their younger players and not limiting their creativity. We need more players that show no fear and who are comfortable on the ball with both feet.

AND JUST FOR FUN WHO DO YOU THINK WILL WIN THE ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE THIS SEASON?
I’d love to say Spurs but I cant see past Man City!

The above shows the Bush Hill Rangers pre-season schedule beginning with a home game against Hatfield Town on Wednesday 25th July. You can follow the club on twitter @BushHillRangers. The Cold End wishes the best of luck to Soner and his team for the forthcoming season.
