Margate, the 2014/15 Ryman Premier Division Play-Off winners, have made a indifferent start to their National League South season. They were considered one of the favourites for the title and play-off chase folllowing the players they recruited over the summer months to their already impressive squad. Just two wins in their opening two games (that came in games 10 and 11) see Margate currently placed in 18th position. Both wins have come away from Hartsdown Park (1-2 at Gosport Borough and 1-4 at Eastbourne Borough). At home they have gone five league games without scoring a goal with the last time they hit the back of the net in front of their own fans on the opening day of the season in a 1-1 draw against Truro City who they face again in the FA Cup tomorrow. They have failed to score in seven of their twelve games. It doesn't get any easier for The Gate as they are scheduled to play 2nd placed Oxford City and 4th placed Bath City in their next two games.

Maidstone United have achieved a much better set of results and will be well pleased to be in fifth position after the twelve games they have played. They to have found it hard to hit the back of the net at the higher level of football scoring only 11 goals - Margate (10), St Albans City (9) and Basingstoke Town (8) are the only teams with a lower amount of goals scored. They have an amazing record away from The Gallagher Stadium with a 0-1 Kent Derby victory at table topper's and league favourite's Ebbsfleet United in their last game in front of a crowd of 2,157 the stand out result - they have won 4 of their 6 games on the road. They have failed to score in five of their twelve games. They face Dunstable Town at home in the Emirates FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round tomorrow. If they can continue their current win percentage of 58.33% they have a decent chance of reaching the play-offs - Fifth placed Havant and Waterlooville had a total of 52.5% last season.
