RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION - THE LEAGUE TABLE - UPDATE

league table courtesy of footballwebpages.co.uk
Maidstone United's 1-1 draw at 22nd placed Harrow Borough yesterday was most certainly two points dropped but The Stone's disappointment would of been tempered when news filtered through that Enfield Town had won at Margate which now leaves the gap between 1st and 2nd at eight points with The Gate having two games in hand.

Dulwich Hamlet also had an unexpected result going down 1-2 at home to VCD Athletic in front of a great crowd of 1,324 people at Champion Hill. Hendon recorded a decent 2-2 draw away at Hampton and Richmond Borough.

As we've stated before it looks as though the title race is down to Maidstone United and Margate with, if they continue their form, Dulwich Hamlet and Hendon earning a play-off place.

NEXT GAMES - all to be played on Saturday 14th March 2015
Maidstone United v Lewes
Canvey Island v Margate
AFC Hornchurch v Dulwich Hamlet
Hendon v Tonbridge Angels

It's the race for fifth place which is now really exciting with up to nine teams still realistically in with a good chance or an outside chance down to Billericay Town who have up to five games in hand over the teams above them.

Since the play-offs were introduced to the Ryman Premier Division the average points per game it has taken to reach fifth place has been 1.70 (taking into account AFC Wimbledon's three point deduction in 06/07) with the highest being 1.80 (AFC Hornchurch 2013/14) and the lowest 1.50 (Sutton United in 08/09). Looking at the below table is a real indication as to how close it's going to be!

TEAM CURRENT POINTS PER GAME
WINGATE 1.58
LEISTON 1.57
MET POLICE 1.66
LEATHERHEAD 1.50
BOGNOR REGIST TOWN 1.54
EAST THURROCK UNITED 1.50
KINGSTONIAN 1.49
ENFIELD TOWN 1.50
BILLERICAY TOWN 1.52

Next Saturday's game between Enfield Town and Leatherhead looks a fantastic game in prospect. Defeat for either side would maybe put an end to their play-off chances. The Tanner's are the form side of the division being unbeaten in eight games. They have won seven of those scoring nineteen times and letting in just five goals.

Wingate's home game versus Billericay Town is also a must win game for both sides.

NEXT GAMES
Billericay Town v Witham Town - Monday 9th March
Met Police v VCD Athletic - Tuesday 10th March

Saturday 14th March
Bury Town v Met Police
Bognor Regis Town v Grays Athletic
East Thurrock United v Hampton and Richmond Borough
Enfield Town v Leatherhead
Kingstonian v Witham Town
Leiston v Harrow Borough
Wingate and Finchley v Billericay Town

At the bottom of the table time is running out for Bury Town who can now only achieve a points total of 46 IF they win all their remaining games. It was an bad weekend for AFC Hornchurch with Harrow Borough (1), VCD Athletic (3), Witham Town (3), Hampton (1) and Lewes (3) all picking up points above them. The Urchin's defeat at Witham Town now puts the 2013/14 play-off finalists four points from safety and eight from Hampton in 19th place. There is a positive as they have games in hand over the teams above them.

NEXT GAMES
