FA VASE SECOND ROUND PROPER THIS WEEKEND

The FA Vase continues this weekend with nine Spartan South Midlands League sides in action. Just Hullbridge Sports represent the Essex Senior League on the road to Wembley and they entertain AFC Rushden and Diamonds at Lower Road. It'll be a tough game for Sports as Diamonds are top of the United Counites League Premier Division.

The fixtures are below with Ampthill Town entering the competition at this stage as a reward for them reaching the Quarter-Final stage last season. That will seem a long time ago to the fan's of the Bedfordshire side as in May their then manager Craig Bicknell left the club. Ex Peterborough Northern Star coach Derwayne Stupple has been given the job of rebuilding the team after many players also left the club. So far they haven't won a game this season but did earn a well deserved point in a 1-1 draw at home to Harefield United in the league on Tuesday evening. Can they build on this in their game at home to Tring Athletic who won 0-4 at Enfield 1893 in the last round? Tring are in 15th position in the league and only have one win in their last eight Premier Division games. They won 0-2 at Ampthill earlier in the season.

It should be really good game at Bellmount Wood Avenue as current Premier Division table topper's Sun Sports welcome Stanway Rovers who are in fifth place of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.

HISTORY - St Mags going for their best Vase performance in nearly thirty years.
A win for St Margarestsbury against Ipswich Wanderers (ninth place in Thurlow Nunn Premier) would see them qualify for the Third Round of the Vase for the first time since 1985/86.

The winner's of the Second Round ties receive £1200 from the Football Association prize fund.
Good Luck to all sides involved.
