With eleven and ten games played already there looks to be only two teams in the race for the title in the Ryman Premier Division. Hendon are the team currently in third place on twenty-one games form eleven games played followed by Dulwich Hamlet who also played eleven times currently on twenty points.

An good indictator as to which team is likely to finish top is by looking at the average points per game of Maidstone United at 2.73, Margate at 2.50, Hendon at 1.91 and Dulwich Hamlet at 1.82. The average points per game to win the division over the past five seasons is 2.10. The two club's win percentages of 90.91% and 80.00% is way above that of the previous champions over the last four seasons.

Maidstone United's only blemish on their league record so far is the 1-0 away defeat at Tonbridge Angels on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August. On Tuesday evening Harrow Borough came within touching distance of getting something from their game at The Gallagher Stadium when with only around ten minutes to go they were 0-1 up thanks to a goal from Daniel May. However goals from Alex Flisher (79th minute) and Frannie Collin in the 90th minute sealed a 2-1 win for The Stones.

Margate have drawn at home to Leiston (Saturday 30th August) and lost away at Dulwich Hamlet (Tuesday 2nd September) and won the other eight of their ten league games so far. They took two games to get past Division One (South) side Folkestone Invicta in the FA Cup Qualifying Round (0-0 on Saturday followed by a 3-1 home replay win on Tuesday evening) whilst Maidstone United thrashed Sussex County Division One side Littlehampton Town 10-0 in their cup game.

This weekend Maidstone travel to Lewes and Margate are at home to Canvey Island before on Tuesday 23rd September all eyes will be on Hartsdown Park as the two title rivals clash before their 2nd Qualifying Round FA Cup games on Saturday 27th September. Should Maidstone United win the game at Margate they may find themselves (pending the results from the weekend) eight points clear at the top of the table albeit with Margate having a game in hand. There is certainly many games to play yet and it's looking to be a really exciting season for fans of both clubs.

The bookmakers currently rate Margate odds on at 4/9 with Maidstone United at 9/4 for the title. There is a massive gap then to Kingstonian at 22/1 and Dulwich Hamlet at 25/1.
