The Ryman League 2013/14 season gets underway today with Enfield Town hosting Metropolitan Police FC at The Queen Elizabeth Stadium. It's the only place to be this afternoon. The game kicks off at 3pm and is a tough one, as the Imber Court side who have strengthened their squad over the summer, only just missed out on a play-off place and got to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup last year. Admission prices at Donkey Lane are not the astronomical amounts you have to spend to watch Premier League football and their is a very nice bar you can spend time in beforehand without breaking the bank. It's £10 for Adults, Concessions are £6 and under 16's gain entry for just £1.
Last season The Town had an away trip to remember at the start of the season when a huge number of fans travelled down to The Dripping Pan where we won 1-2 versus Lewes. The highlights of a memorable day out are below (the camera work is even more shaky than ever as I'd sampled some of the local beer prior to the game) -
If you fancy a gamble on today's game there are a number of on-line bookmakers offered all sorts of odds. Coral.co.uk make the Met slight favourites at 13/10 with a home victory rated at 6/4 and the draw at 12/5. They also offer odds for correct score betting so if fancy a Town 3-1 win you can get odds of 22/1 or if your a Met fan a 2-3 victory could get you odds of 25/1. A 2-2 draw is rated at 14/1. A 9-0 victory either way is 100/1!!!
In the title odds it's 50/1 ETFC plays 20/1 MPFC.
