RYMAN DIVISION ONE (NORTH) UPDATE

TWO/THREE HORSE RACE OR TOO EARLY TO SAY??

Enfield Town recorded a narrow 2-1 win over Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday with table toppers Leiston gaining a highly impressive 0-3 win at Harlow Town. Third placed Needham Market won in some style by crushing Cheshunt 7-0 at Bloomfields. There is now a gap of twelve points between Leiston and Harlow Town in fourth position. The Hawks could narrow this to nine points if they win their game in hand. Most of the play-off chasing teams all had weekends to forget with Grays Athletic losing to Maldon and Tiptree, Tilbury drawing 2-2 at Waltham Abbey, AFC Sudbury losing at home to Waltham Forest and Brentwood Town going down 4-0 at Heybridge Swifts.

Many people are now saying the race for the title is now only a three or possibly a two horse race. The Cold End, being an Enfield Town fan, is firmly in the 'too early to say' camp as there are still fourteen games (42 points on offer) to be played by the the top three teams.

KEY FIXTURES COMING UP

Saturday 11th February 2012
GRAYS ATHLETIC V NEEDHAM MARKET
With two wins in their last six games it looks at though the best Hakan Hayrettin's side can hope for now is a play-off spot? The Cold End thinks the Essex side are more than capable of putting a run together to move up the table and this is a must win game for both sides.

Saturday 3rd March 2012
BRENTWOOD TOWN V LEISTON
The blues are strong at home and this is a tough trip for Leiston. Although many people said this about their visit to Harlow Town on Saturday.

Saturday 10th March 2012
NEEDHAM MARKET V HARLOW TOWN
A fixture which both sides will need to win to keep their play off and possibly title challenge on track.

Saturday 31st March 2012
ENFIELD TOWN V HARLOW TOWN
Could be a huge fixture with a large crowd watching at The Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

In April Enfield Town have to travel to Needham Market and welcome Leiston to The QE on the penultimate weekend of the season. Needham Market also travel to Leiston in what is shaping up to be the pivotal month in the race for the title.
